High School Spring Concert
The spring music concert , conducted by Laurel Miller, was a huge
success. This concert included several performances by the choir, the
select choir and our band. The band wowed the audience with a per-
formance played entirely on trash cans. Thank you Mrs. Miller for an-
other wonderful year.

POOL UPDATE The School and Community take great pride in the pool and the swim pro-
gram as a whole. The drains around the pool and gutters have consistently
drained slowly, this increasingly became more and more of an issue over the
last few years. On March 6th, 2017 discussions began regarding the needs of
the pool. The first step was to open up a section of the deck to expose the
piping and cut out a section to see what we were dealing with. The pipe
that was cut out showed us that approximately 85% of the pipe was plugged
with rust and debris. This needed to be addressed. We also have other is-
sues in the mechanical room needing attention such as steam leaks and pool
equipment. After working with Erie Mechanical we were able to generate
budgetary numbers for repair of the pool. The end of April the project was
put out for bid. The
project was for cutting the deck open around the whole pool, remove all
concrete, excavate the sand, remove all pipe, core new drain holes in the
gutters and the inlets, add all new pipe, replace sand, new concrete, tile or
epoxy finish over the new concrete along with needed mechanical room
fixes. On May 18, 2017 the Board of Education approved to hire Erie Me-
chanical to complete the pool project at a cost of $162,000 paid from the
districts Special Projects Fund. You can see by the pictures that the project
is coming along on schedule. It is the goal to have the pool reopened by
September 1, 2017. We have made plans for our high school girls swim
team to practice at a different location and for meets to not be in our pool
in August and September. We are excited for the work to be done and to
reopen the pool to our community once again!
The Mason High School Pool will be closed for the summer of 2017 for re-piping. There will be no swimming lessons or open swim this summer.
