Verb• A verb is an action word, a word of doing or

being; it’s what you do!

• The infinitive is the “basic” verb form, that goes at the top of the conjugation graphic organizer.

• All infinitives in English start with the word “to…”

• All infinitives in French end in –er, -ir, -re

Infinitive• At the top of your verb conjugation graphic

organizer, write the infinitive in French and in English.

• It should look like this:

être – to be(infinitive in French – infinitive in English)

Subject pronouns• The subject pronouns represent the person or

thing that is “verbing”; whoever or whatever is doing the verb action.

• First person is who is talking (I/we)

• Second person is who I’m talking to (you)

• Third person isn’t part of the conversation, they’re the one we’re talking about (he,she,it,they)

Conjugation• When you conjugate the verb, you change

the verb so it “goes” with the subject.
