Central Baptist College is pleased to announce that commitments to Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making have topped the $10 million mark. Vision 2020 is a plan to complete ten major construction projects over ten years to accommodate a student enrollment of 2020 students. In mid-November, CBC received a $1.3 million gift which put the Vision 2020 total at $10,078,865. Amajorbenefitof theadditional$1.3millionpledge is the opportunity for the College to construct a new Library facility instead of renovating the existing structure. From the beginning of the library project, CBC library staff had the benefit of their own research, of otherlibraries throughout the country, as well as the adviceofarecognizedexpertinthefield.Severalkey elementswere identified to create a facilitythat would meet the needs of students for years to come. According to CBC President Terry Kimbrow, “The construction of a new facility enables more oftheseidentifiedbenefitstobeincorporated,”saidKimbrow. “The consensus from every standpoint was new construction, if possible, was clearly a preferableapproachandthemostefficientuseofourresources.” A new, two-story building will be built on the current site of the Administration/Library Building once demolition of the current building takes place, and will be just over 16,000 square feet. Construction is set to begin early in 2013. Features that were to be included in the

renovation and expansion will be included in the newbuilding,but the configurationof the spacewill allow a more efficient use of the building.Preliminary layout includes the following: library staff offices, learning commons, 30+ computerworkstations, multimedia classroom, café and café seating area, Ronald V. Mitchell Archives, science resource center, music listening lab, media curriculum center, conference rooms, group and private study rooms, and book stacks. Floor plans, outside elevation, and naming opportunities are being developed and will be available in the coming weeks. The mission statement of Central Baptist College calls for the integration of Christian faith and academic excellence . . . in a Christ-focused environment. “That, I believe, can only be accomplished as we continue to improve the campus learningenvironment,”Kimbrowstated.“We are here to facilitate ‘life change’ in both the minds and hearts of our students. Vision 2020 is simply a plan to help us as we strive to accomplish ourmission.” CBC launched Phase 1 of Vision 2020 in February 2011 with a $12 million goal to fund the three construction projects. The first projectin Vision 2020 was the construction of the David T. Watkins Academic Building which was completed earlier this year. The Library Project, which is currently underway, is the second project, followed by the construction of a new residence hall.

CBC Day for Vision 2020 The church segment of Vision 2020 has a five-year fundraising goal of $250,000 toward our goal of $12 million for phase I of Vision 2020. September 16, 2012 was the first annual CBC Day. I appreciate the churches who enthusiastically participated and the pastors who led in the challenge among their congregation.

I am pleased to report that thirty churches (including three in other states) and one Sunday School class joined in the special emphasis sending special offerings totaling $72,452 to date. This amount does not include individuals who gave generously through their church or any other BMA departmental contribution. This is strictly special offerings received from BMA churches and designated for Vision 2020.

2013 CBC Day for Vision 2020 set Mark your calendars for “CBC Day for Vision 2020” on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Churches are again asked to take a one-time offering for Vision 2020 and/or make a pledge to give additional offerings over the twelve months to follow. The proceeds of this special offering will be applied to the $250,000 church segment goal for Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making capital fundraising campaign. A special area in one of our new buildings will be set aside to recognize the contributions of the churches of the BMA of Arkansas. In addition, contributions of $5,000 or more from any church will be given special recognition. Support from the churches of the BMA of Arkansas will speak volumes as we solicit funds from individuals, foundations and corporations. Be a part of the vision! Plan now to support CBC Day 2013.

1. How does an online class work? Online classes at Central Baptist College are offered via the Internet through WebStudy, a course management system. These courses can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

2. What equipment or software is needed to take an online course?

A computer and Internet access are basic requirements.

3. What technical skills are required to take an online course?

Students are expected to be proficient in using email, uploading & downloading files, as well as have basic word processing skills.

4. Do online students ever have to come to campus?

No. Online students should be able to enroll, register and successfully complete a college degree from his or her computer.

5. What is the term length for an online class? Online courses are offered in a variety of term lengths, depending on the degree program.

6. Will the credit for an online class transfer to another institution?

Central Baptist College is regionally accredited, and online classes are listed in the same manner on a transcript as courses which are taken on campus.

7. Who will be teaching my online class? Qualified faculty members of Central Baptist College teach all online classes. Although online students will probably not meet their instructor face-to-face, they will communicate with him or her almost daily through email, graded assignments, or Skype.

8. Are textbooks required for online courses? Yes, one or more textbooks may be required for each online course. However, the learner is free to choose the textbook’s format, whether it be a hard copy or e-book.

Central Baptist College is pleased to announce the sixth annual Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction to be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in the Mabee Student Services Complex. This event will be the kick-off of the new Central Baptist College Friends of the Library Program, and proceeds from the event will benefit Phase I of the Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making capital fundraising campaign. Vision 2020 is a plan to complete ten major construction projects over the next ten years to accommodate an enrollment of 2,020 students. Phase I consists of three major projects: the newly constructed David T. Watkins Academic Building, the Library construction project, and the construction of a residence hall. According to Rachel Whittingham, Library Director, “The Friends of the Library program is an exciting new chapter for the CBC library! I look forward to this program becoming an integral part of welcoming the community into the new library and all it will have to offer.” As part of the Friends of the Library Kick-Off, all ticket purchases will include a charter membership to the Coffee Club! The silent auction will open at 5:30 p.m., with gourmet

coffee and hors d’oeuvres. The program and dinner will follow at approximately 6:30 p.m. Dinner this year will be prepared by Central Baptist College Dining Services, under the direction of executive chef, Jill McCollum. Featured silent auction items this year are original works of art by local artists Steve Griffith and VNoe (Vivian Noe Griffith). The Outstanding Young Alumnus is awarded to an individual who has been instrumental in the advancement of their chosen profession primarily within the past two years. This individual demonstrates the love of service within their community and

continues to show interest in Central Baptist College. Maria graduated from Central Baptist College in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Counseling and currently works at LifeChoices in Conway.

The Distinguished Alumnus is awarded to an individual who has served their community diligently for more than 20 years. On Friday, September 14, 2012, Central Baptist Collegehosted an open house and dedication for its new David T. Watkins Academic Building. The 38,000 square foot David T. Watkins Academic Building is the first project of tenmajor construction projects in Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making – a plan to complete ten major projects in the next ten years to accommodate an enrollment of 2020 students.

David T. Watkins faithfully served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas for twenty-three years. The naming of the building came as a result of a lead contribution to the Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making campaign made by Max and Debbie Story, longtimemembers of First Baptist and close friends of Bro. Watkins.

The new building features thirteen state-of-the-art classrooms, three conference rooms and new administrative offices. The facility is also the new home of the Bible,Missions, PACE and Online Studies departments at CBC.

Upon arrival into the Central Baptist College David T. Watkins Academic Building, you will be quick to notice the world map mural created by artist Dennis Rankin. The map dominatestheentranceintotheOfficeofthePresidentdoorwayand entrance into the Board Room. The World Map Mural is nine feet tall and thirteen feet wide and is 100% wood and features each country carefully carved out of a separate piece of timber.

Located on the second floor is the Ronald V. MitchellLectureHall. This100+ seat lecturehall featurespresentationscreens, a Crestron lectern, and a lecture capture system to allow the recording of lectures and programs in the hall.

The Brittany Parrish Memorial Garden is a beautiful garden located on the east side of the building. The garden features a seating area for guests with a beautiful display of daylilies, azaleas, knock out roses, gardenias, and more.

Guests were treated to a barbeque lunch with all the trimmings preparedbytheCBCDiningServicesandtheprogramincludedremarks by CBC President Terry Kimbrow, Building Honoree Bro. David T. Watkins, and a prayer of dedication by Donny Parrish.

As the academic year continues to progress closer toward graduation for high school seniors, I want to encourage you to suggest CBC to prospective college students that you might come in contact with. The Admissions Office is working daily at connecting with students to provide them the best possible service through the application process as well as the enrollment process. Prospective-students will receive a Personal Admissions Officer who they will meet on their personal campus tour. They will plan a day specifically for them to make sure all their questions are answered. The

student will even have a reserved parking spot waiting! In addition to our Traditional degree plans, please keep in mind that CBC also offers a number of different Non-Traditional degree options. The Professional Adult College Education Program (PACE) serves over 300 working adult students at the main Conway campus and our North Little Rock, Camp Robinson campus. PACE currently offers eight degrees that best serve adult learners to help in a career change or promotion. CBC also has an Online Studies Program that offers two online degrees to help serve those students who

are unable to come to campus for class. Both of these programs offer multiple enrollment dates per semester and are offered in a five week accelerated format. There are a number of ways to connect with CBC. First, visit our website at www.cbc.edu. Friends of A.D. & Mary K. Livingston recently established an Evangelism Endowed Scholarship at Central Baptist College. The scholarship was set up anonymously by friends of the Livingstons to honor their devotion to the ministry and Bro. A.D’s long time service as an evangelist. The Livingston’s were married for 67 years; Bro. Livingston served in the ministry for the last 58 years of his life. He served as a full-time evangelist for more than 14 years preaching in over 700 revival meetings in 14 different states. The A.D. & Mary K. Livingston Evangelism Endowed Scholarship will give priority to Bible major students with emphasis in evangelism who are members of a BMA of Arkansas church with a junior or senior status. As with all of the endowed scholarships at the institution, the $20,000 donation has been placed in the permanent endowment. The principal will never be spent; only the interest will be awarded as scholarships. The scholarship will be awarded by vote of the College scholarship committee, taking into account the qualifications and eligibility of the applicants as detailed in the scholarship agreement. “What an appropriate way to honor the life of God’s faithful servants,” said CBC President Terry Kimbrow. “Only heaven knows the impact the Livingston’s ministry will have.” Friends and churches are encouraged to add to the Livingston Evangelism Endowed Scholarship. Did you know that CBC offers tuition scholarships for Multiples and Siblings? It’s true. Parents can now receive a CBC 25% tuition discount for twins, 30% discount for triplets, a 35% discount for quadruplets and additional discounts for more siblings. The scholarships are awarded to students attending CBC concurrently, maintaining a 2.5 GPA and must be enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester.

The Sibling Scholarship is awarded at $1000 per year/$500 per semester per sibling for up to 8 semesters and the siblings must attend CBC concurrently. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA and must be enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester.

The CBC Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students who have at least one parent or grandparent who graduated from CBC and is a current member of the CBC Alumni Association. The scholarship amount is $500 per year/$250 per semester for up to 8 semesters. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and enroll in at least 12 hours per semester.

Congratulations to the Lady Mustangs soccer team for completing the season with an 11-7 record. That is a school record for wins in one season for the women’s soccer team breaking the nine win season set in 2010. In the eleven wins this season, eight of them were shutouts. The Lady Mustangs made it to the MCAC conference semi-finals before losing 1-0 to the conference champion. The team had three players make All Conference and four make All Region. Receiving All-Conference honors were Brittany Kemper, Katie Baldridge, and Becca Clements. All Region was the same three plus Lexi Lewis. The team had two players make Academic All American this fall and they are Katie Nelson and Katie Baldridge.

ROBINSON NAMED SOFTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL COACH

Crystal Robinson has been named the new softball and volleyball coach at CBC. Robinson has served as assistant coach for the CBC softball team for the past three years. In her role as assistant softball coach, Robinson served as pitching coach for three seasons. During her first year at CBC, the Mustangs finished 52-1 and won the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association National Championship. In 2011, the Mustangs finished with a record

of 57-7 in their first year in the NAIA. In 2012 and CBC’s second year in the NAIA, the CBC softball team yielded a 53-6 record and finished 5th at the NAIA national tournament. Robinson is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Speech. She is currently seeking a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the University of Central Arkansas.

Chris MitChellCaMpus safety & seCurity/dean of studentsChris Mitchell recently joined the staff at Central Baptist College as Director of Campus Safety and Security and also Dean of Students. Mitchell comes to CBC after retiring from eighteen years of service to the Conway Police Department where he served as a detective for fifteen of those years. In 2009, he received the Police Officer of the Year award by the City of Conway. He and his family are residents of Conway and are members of Second Baptist Church.

Amy and her husband reside in Conway along with their two children where they are members of Second Baptist Church in Conway. She comes to CBC from First Security Bank where she was a Business Development Officer. Amy is a member of the Conway Regional Medical Center Women’s Council, a Dazzle Daze committee member, Toad Suck Daze committee member and is a member of the Renewal Ranch Leadership Team.

Rick served as Property Manager at CBC for a year before taking on this new position. He was a Conway Fireman for over seven years. He and his wife, Rita, have two children, Katlyn and Carter, and are members at Antioch Baptist Church in Conway.

Chad linnassistant professor of aCCountingChad Linn has been hired as Assistant Professor of Accounting. Chad was born and raised in Conway. He spent four years with the United States Air Force and seven years with the Conway Fire Department. He has seven years of public and private accounting as a CPA and six years of experience as an adjunct professor at UALR. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting from UCA and attends Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene.
