Why here on water ?The project chose this place for shelter site to use the advantage of staying on water. By offering the opportunity to spend the night on water and not just pass by would be a strong and unique feature of the inland water experience.

The project suggests an easily constructed and practical form for the shelters which would be suitable for various weather circum-stances (wind, rain and clear sky) using materials from vacant build-ings. With the folding out idea the shelter could be adapted fast to the users claims too; folded form protects from wind and rain or using the unfolded form for stargazing. Nearby there are many opportunities on land as well. One can continue the tour by hiking, biking or horseback riding.

Ove Lake is the biggest lake in Thy 8 km long and 3,5 km2 the landscape around the lake is diverse and by going around the lake a lot of different views to the lake will appear. Get an overview of the lake in the north or get the feeling of the lake from Istrup with a ground level view over the big water.

Looking back, events as “going around Ove Lake” has attracted people on bikes, horse and walking in the landscape. And there are still a lot of options for activi-ties in and around Ove Lake. Istrup plantation is a linking spot whit existing activities nearby and close connection to the national park and the canoeing in Ove Lake.

Ove Lake has a rich life of different animals such as otters and whooper swans the lake is special because of its size and gives a special feeling when sailing from the narrow stream with land on both sides to the open water which make you feel small it has its one silence and atmosphere that you can only reach by being on water, this unique experience could be expressed through a floating shelter, which makes it pos-sible to stay a night on the lake with a fantastic view to the sky and the stars.

Ove Lake seen from Istrup

Local use the landscape around Ove Lake and Istrup active and know the unsigned routs in the area. Locals as well as catchment and tourists are coming to the area to watch birds and enjoy the nature. A local riding school uses the area to go for a ride but there is not any official route around the lake. By using the local knowledge to find new routes and quiet spots, the area could become a new experience for more people and a better devel-oped part in the action of connect the stream with other activities.

The new facilities are placed on land except of the shelter out in the middle of the lake. The signage is placed so it is easy to see when passing by. The placement of the shelter it to give an unique experience and an undisturbed atmosphere.

Istrup next to Ove Lake are not directly connected to the activities, looking at the existing activities it is already developed with a network of paths, these activi-ties should be connected to Istrup to make the access between this activities and the canoeing, there is already some paths in relation to Ove Lake but it is not mapped yet
