History● First Greeks arrived in 1840s as ship captains● From 1970 to 1990 most of the restaurants that

currently reside there opened● In 1996, the city of Chicago recognized its

contribution to the city and as a result, invested millions of dollars into street renovations and establishing Greek temples and pavilions

● Known as a world renowned attraction● Language is still spoken by some● Greek Independence Day Parade: March 25th
