Experimental Lab for collaboration of musicians and contemporary music composers offers the opportunity for the instrumentalists to
cooperate directly with composers that write for the master instrument: the idea becomes musical gesture and the musical gesture makes
the idea to be real.

student is free to propose to the professors variations or other

CONSIDERING
The Regulations concerning principles and criteriafor the planning of a Master'sDegreeCourse, carried out by the Higher Education Institution ofArts, Music and Dance and issued by the General Direction of the Higher Education Institution in Arts, Music and Dance - Off. 2 with note 9 december 2010, reg. n 7631 for the planning of 2ndLevel Master of Arts Courses, approved by the Council of the Higher Education Institution of Arts, Music and Dance ;
CONSIDERING The resolution of the Conservatory Academic Council, issued on the
11/04/2014 and concerning the approval of the 2ndLevel Master of Arts –
Course of Specialization – in “Contemporary Music Interpretation”;
CONSIDERING The note of the Ministry of Education – University and Higher Education in Arts, Music and Dance Department – and of the General Direction of the Higher Education in Arts, Music and Dance – Off. II – reg n. 4421 of 10.07.2014, concerning the 2ndLevel Master of Arts in “Contemporary Music Interpretation” with which the commencementof the Master Course is authorized, under the Academic Council's approval;
CONSIDERING The resolution n. 10 date 18.08.2014 of the President of the Conservatory, with which, considering the Academic Council of the Conservatory's planning, considering the Regulations for the organization of the Master of Arts Course approved by CNAM and considering the financial feasibility confirmed by the Administration establishes the sum requested by the admitted students and the payment methods;
WITHOUT PREJUDICE
To further changes due to ministerial instructions aimed at the well-functioning of the Master of Arts Course;
CONSIDERS Proceeding as following;
ISSUES
The following public announcement for the admission to the 2nd Level M.A. Course in “Contemporary Music Interpretation”
Art. 1 (Master's degree commencement )
Starting from the year 2015/2016 at the State Conservatory of Music “Santa Cecilia” in Rome, the 2nd Level Master of Arts Course has been established. For each course the Conservatory will communicate by public notice admission procedure to the course, the kind of instrument for which the course has been activated and the number of available places. For the Academic year 2015/2016 the kind of instruments for which the course has been activated and the number of available places are specified in the following art. 11.
Art. 2 (M.A. Course goals)
The course has as its main goal the acquisition of technical and theoretical competency necessary to
specialise in the repertoire of contemporary music. The M.A. expects a high level study plan orientated towards a specific sector of contemporary music interpretation and production. The objective of the course is to create professional musicians at an international level with the knowledge and skills of an expert in the interpretation and performance of contemporary, soloist or ensemble music.
Art. 3 (Study plan)
The study plan of the 2nd Level Master Course in “Contemporary Music Interpretation” is defined by the present public notice, of which it is part. The Master's Course study plan is divided into individual, group and collective lessons; in workshops and internships at internationally known institutions such as: Musica per Roma, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Nuova Consonanza, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti (IUC), Europa Musica. The study plan also includes, as a qualification of the course, the taking part in concerts and recitals at the institutions where the internships are carried out.
Art. 4 (Duration and calendar)
The Master's Course lessons will start in November 2015 and have a total duration of 373 hours divided into two semesters: 181 hours in the first semester and 192 hours in the second (including class lessons, workshop and internship attendance, education and orientation apprenticeships).
Art. 5 (Attendance and lesson organization)
Lesson attendance is obligatory. The lessons (individual, group, collective and workshops) will be carried out allowing for the maximum number of students to take part in the course. The didactic calendar of the first semester will be communicated by the 31st of March. The days and the timetables can be changed, but any modification will be communicated immediately with an announcement on the Conservatory website: www.conservatoriosantacecilia.it
Art. 6 (Required qualifications for the admission test)
The candidates who wish to apply for the Master’s Course, which has a limited number of places as explained in art. 7, must have the following qualifications: - Conservatory diploma, according to the law 508/99 before the reform, in addition to a high school diploma or any other equivalent title; - 2nd level academic diploma obtained at Conservatories of Music and IMP institutions who grant equivalent qualifications; - Bachelor or specialized degree or 2nd level academic diploma obtained at other AFAM institutions or any other qualifications obtained abroad accepted by the present legislation.
- any other qualification obtained abroad not accepted by the present legislation, but estimated and admitted by the Course Council as equivalent exclusively for the admission to the Master’s Course. Students enrolled at Conservatories who haven’t yet obtained any of the above qualifications can still apply. The actual admission is subject to the acquisition of one of the required qualifications before the course starts. The enrolment to other Master, AFAM and University courses is forbidden. The student has the right to suspend the study following the Institution involment instructions. Foreign students are admitted to the course if they present a regular residence permit and a valid study qualification (not lower than a Bachelor) and if they master written and spoken Italian.
Art. 7 (Admission procedure test)
Place and date of the admission test will be communicated on the Conservatory’s website www.conservatoriosantacecilia.it, at least 20 days before the test takes place. The public notice will be considered a notification for anyone interested. If the candidate does not attend the test he's considered 'dropped out'. According to art. 8 the admission fee will not be refunded. The selection will be carried out by a Committee nominated by the Conservatory Director and designated by the Master Course Council. For the evaluation the Committee can distribute to each candidate a maximum of 100 points, divided in: Performance 70 points Oral test 15 points Curriculum evaluation 15 points
The candidate is admitted to the oral test if he obtained at least 45 points in the performance. The candidate is admitted to the curriculum evaluation if he obtained a total of 55 points in the previous tests. The selection exam is divided as following:
• Performance The candidates must present a contemporary program of their own choice, not longer than 20 minutes and including at least 2 compositions. The performance of two separate pieces from a longer composition is permitted as long as the maximum time limit is respected. Percussionist students must include a composition for keyboard in his program. Choosing different authors, styles and methods of composition is requested in order to evaluate the technical-performance level necessary for any contemporary repertoire and for the variety of methods expected, including compositions that have elements of high performance value. The program must reflect the objectives of the Master Course, aimed at knowledge and interpretation of today's music.
The Committee has the right to request the performance of a specific part of the chosen composition and/or interrupt the exam once they acknowledge the technical-performance level of the candidate.
• Oral exam The candidates who have reached the minimum evaluation points at the performance test can attend the oral test: the candidate will be asked to express his opinion on the chosen repertoire and the problems encountered studying and interpreting contemporary music.
• Curriculum evaluation If the candidate obtains at least 55 points, the admission procedure ends with the evaluation of the curriculum. The Committee's judgment is incontestable. At the end of the selection procedure the Director will communicate the list of admitted students. If two or more candidates obtain equal number of points, the younger candidates have priority over the older ones.
Art. 8 (Final date for the application form and presentation of qualifications)
The application forms for the Master's course admission procedure must be compiled in accordance with the attachment A (at the end of the present public notice) on standard paper and sent to the Director of the Conservatory at the following address: Conservatorio statale di musica “Santa Cecilia” Via dei Greci 18 00187 Roma The forms can also be delivered by hand at the Master Course Administration Office: Angela Cannillo II floor room 11. The application forms can also be sent via e-mail to the following address mail: [email protected].
The application forms must have the following written on the front of the envelope or as a heading on the e-mail:
“Rif: Iscrizione al Master di II livello in Interpretazione della musica contemporanea” All application forms must be delivered no later than the15th July 2015. The following documentation must be attached to the Master's application form:
• Curriculum vitae;
• Payment receipt of € 100,00 on the ccp n. 59365007 assigned to “Conservatorio statale di musica “Santa Cecilia”” with the following motive (causale): contributo procedura ammissione Master II livello
• 3 passport-size photos.
Art. 9 (Enrolment and fees)
The Master's enrolment fee, which must be paid at the end of the admission selection, is € 3.300,00 (euro three-thousand-three-hundred/00). The total sum can be paid in full or in two instalments, the first of € 1.650,00 (euro one-thousand-six-hundred-and-fifty/00) to be paid at enrolment or in any case before the course starts, and the second of € 1.650,00 (euro one-thousand-six-hundred-and-fifty/00), to be paid before the end of the first semester. It is possible, by the Conservatory President request, pay in a bigger amount of rates.
Art. 10 (Scholarships)
The Conservatory reserves the right to grant scholarships; the number and amount will be agreed once the courses commence and will depend on the availability of funds. Each scholarship is given as a refund of the enrolment fee and after the qualification has been acheived, based on a merit system and a low income index, determined via ISEE. The Course Council will grant scholarships according to the final evaluation of each candidate, set by the admission test Committee based on the following parameters: -results obtained at the admission selection -lesson attendance -involvement and level of learning during individual and collective lessons; involvement and dedication during lab activities and apprenticeships; -evaluation of the single courses and of the thesis. The economic position of the candidate, determined through the economic indicator ISEE, has priority over other parameters. The Committee and the Course Council's judgment are considered incontestable.
Art. 11 (Number of admission and course commencement)
For the academic year 2015/2016, the courses comprise the following instruments and professors:
Double Bass, Daniele Roccato Guitar, Arturo Tallini Piano, Bruno Canino Percussion, Gianluca Ruggeri Saxophone, Enzo Filippetti Viola, Luca Sanzò The maximum number of admitted students is 30. The Master Course will commence only when a minimum number of 25 students are admitted.
Art. 12 (Diploma)
Regular lesson attendance, good results and good final exam evaluation will result in the following qualification: Academic Diploma of II Level Master of Arts in Contemporary Music Interpretation issued by the Conservatory of Music “Santa Cecilia” of Rome and 60 cfa.
Art. 13 (Use of personal data)
The Conservatory will not violate the laws of personal data privacy and will use them exclusively for the admission procedure and the students' career management. According to section 13, comma 1 of the Legislative Decree 30.06.2003 n. 196, personal data will be collected by the protocol office and by the Master Course Administration exclusively for the admission procedure and later, for the student's career management.
Art. 14
(Final norm and further notices) The final didactic calendar will be communicated at the start of the Master Course and can be viewed on the official site of the Conservatory: www.conservatoriosantacecilia.it. The Conservatory reserves the right to modify the present public notice in order to improve the Master's Course. CONTEMPORARY MUSIC INTERPRETATION – STUDY PLAN
Available places and requirements
In order for the Specialization Diploma - Second Level Master of Arts course to be fully functional, a certain number of students is necessary according to the present regulations and, in particular, to Note 9.12.2010 n. 7631 Attachment A - Master Course Regulation. The admission of the students is based on the number of places available established by the Institution, not under 10 places and not over 15. The students admitted to the course, prior to passing a public selection test which follows the general principles of trasparency and impartiality, must possess the skills necessary for the acquisition of the competence and knowledge expected by the Master Course and must present at least one of the following qualifications: - Conservatory Diploma of the previous legal order together with the high school diploma or an equivalent qualification;
- Second Level Academic Diploma obtained at a Conservatory of music or IMP;
- Specialization Degree, or any other qualification obtained abroad accepted by the present regulations;
- Any other qualification obtained abroad, not accepted by the present regulations, but judged and considered equivalent by the Master Course Council exclusively for the admission;- The present public notice admits students who are studying for a degree or diploma, as long as the qualification required is obtained before enrolment and in any case before the commencement of the course. - If there are available places and the minimum number of places have been filled, provisional attendance to the Master Course is accepted, as long as the qualification required is obtained during the course; - Enrolment to any other Master Course, AFAM Institutions' courses or University courses is forbidden. The student has the right to suspend the course according to the rules set by the Institution.

Educational objectives
The Specialization Diploma - Second Level Master of Arts is a educational tool necessary to satisfy the professional requirements requested by the labour market, also internationally. The Master's Course has a highly specialized educational program in order to improve cultural, artistic, musical and professional competence specifically in the production and interpretation of contemporary music. The aim of the course is to create professional musicians at an international level with the knowledge and skills of an expert in interpreting and performing contemporary, soloist or ensemble music. The development of these particular skills and techniques is reached by studying composition theory, musical notation, analysis and musicology. The additional educational value acquired by special collaboration with Schools of Music Composition and of Electronic Music are very important in the production of contemporary music. The collaboration with the School of Music Composition enriches the student's competence comparing the different composition tecniques, from the theory to the immediate realization of experimental compositions, creating active collaboration and interaction between the musician and composer. The collaboration with the Electronic Music School develops theoretical and applied competences in electronic tools, in particular in the area of contemporary production for live electronics.

The course offers the student several employment opportunities, such as: - Interpreter of contemporary music; - Interpreter of contemporary music and live electronics; - Chamber music interpreter specialized in repertoires from the 20
th century to the contemporary era;
- Ensemble interpreter with conductor specialized in repertoires from the 20th
century to the contemporary era; - Interpreter in chamber music orchestras; - Interpreter in the 'music applied to images' sector; - Interpreter in sectors regarding the musical application to any possible activity.
