How to refer your patientsReferring your patients for a wide range of health and wellbeing services at Nuffield Health is quick and simple. We accept the following patients:
• Self-funded
• Insured
• NHS e-Referral Service – patient choice
• NHS e-Referral Service – via local contract
Patients with health insurance We have agreements with all major insurers. In most cases a GP referral is required when patients are using health insurance. Patients will need to have their health insurance policy details and authorisation number available when booking or attending an appointment.
Patients who are paying for themselves For patients who want to fund their own treatment we can provide a range of services. All our patients are covered by the Nuffield Health Promise, and there is also the option of an interest-free loan.
Patients via NHS e-Referral Service Your patients can also be referred via the NHS e-Referral Service – formerly choose and book (www.nhs.uk/referrals). You and your patients can select the most convenient time, date and place of treatment for those NHS services that we currently have listed on the NHS e-Referral Service web portal.

Recovery Plus.Recovery Plus is Nuffield Health’s flagship recovery programme available free-of-charge to private patients at Nuffield Health hospitals.
Recovery Plus embodies Nuffield Health’s complete end-to-end approach to healthcare. It is an optional enhanced recovery pathway that starts after patients have finished their post-operative physiotherapy and enables them to continue their recovery at a Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing club, at no extra cost.
Recovery Plus provides patients with a personal recovery programme, including Health MOT, exercise and diet advice, together with a 3-month membership at their local Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing club and their own recovery coach. So patients will be doing everything they can to maximise their recovery.
Recovery Plus is available to our private patients for over 25 orthopaedic and gynaecological procedures. This includes ACL reconstruction, chondroplasty, spinal fusion, foot osteotomy, knee replacement, hip replacement, hysterectomy, frozen shoulder and more.

Diagnostic imaging servicesNuffield Health has comprehensive imaging capabilities delivered through our 31 hospitals. We provide a wide range of imaging modalities including MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound and DXA. Our consultant-led service ensures that your referral will be reported by an experienced radiologist.

PathologyNuffield Health has a national, integrated laboratory testing service with a network of fully accredited laboratories around the country. Linked by a nationwide pathology IT platform, hospitals can provide accurate lab reports with a quick turnaround and feedback on outcomes backed by a wealth of data. All pathology requests require a referral from a clinician.
