Also, some of these pictures I used for the festival part of the contents page were not suitable as some of them were shot too close or too far away and included people who we didn’t want in the photo as we took them at a festival. I did not use these photographs as I thought this would make our magazine come across as unprofessional and this may deter our audience from buying a magazine that is not of a high standard and quality and the audience may think this will reflect the content. It is also important that pictures come out clear so the audience know the subject of the pictures and what they are representing. This is the picture I decided to use for my contents page as we thought it was of good quality, a good angle and represented our target audience due to the fact it is quite a natural fun picture. We also thought it was a good picture to use as the lighting came out perfectly, the picture is clear and the models are not too close or too far away. The other people in the background also give the picture an atmospheric feel which is the type of mood we wanted to achieve for our young student demographic.

Contact Proof Analysis

When making my magazine, I took several photographs for the front cover, contents page, and double page spread. These are the reasons I chose not to use some of the photographs -

Blurry photographs -

Some of the pictures I used came out slightly blurry, such as the pictures I took for the contents page for the festival page as when we took these pictures the people in it were walking forward and therefore quite a few of the shots came out a little blurry.

This is the picture I used as one of the articles for my double page spread. I chose this picture due to the fact I thought it was of good quality and I thought the lighting was good

I decided not to use these pictures of students which I would have used for the interviews on my double page spread as I thought they were not of good quality as some of them are blurry and the lighting is too dark/bright. Also, in some of these pictures the students aren’t looking at the camera and therefore you can’t see their faces so I didn’t use these pictures as I didn’t want it too look unprofessional.

This was an option picture to use for the main cover image however it is too blurry and you cannot see the crowd properly.

This is a picture I used for one of the articles on the double page spread which I used as I thought the angle of the picture was good as you can see the DJ and the crowd behind them so I thought this would have a good effect on the reader.

This is the picture I used for my main image for the front cover as I really liked the lighting as I thought it added to the enthusiastic atmosphere of the picture. Although some aspects of the photo are blurry such as the main singer of the Kaiser Chiefs I thought this had a great effect as it shows the action of the picture which relates to our young enthusiastic student audience. Its also a great picture to use for the front cover as most students are interested in music concerts which grabs the reader’s attention and persuades them to buy the magazine.
