OCT-LOFTWith contemporary art, cre-

ative design and avant-garde music as its features, OCT-LOFT will offer a range of entertaining and inspiring events, with the theme of “Infi nity” for ICIF.

New art installations for the “Beyond the Scenery” public art exhibition have been installed in OCT-LOFT, creating a recre-ational experience for visitors. Inspired by the form of tra-ditional Chinese gardens, the exhibition connects gardening culture with contemporary art.

On May 17-20, seven bands from France, China, Britain, Germany, Japan and Demo-cratic Republic of Congo will present live gigs every night at the fi fth Tomorrow Festival, an annual music event showcasing the latest in avant-garde music.

Hakka-style scenic spot devel-oped by the Overseas Chinese Town Group. With the tradi-tional Hakka hat as Gankeng’s logo, the town will launch the Little Hakka International Pic-ture Book Awards this afternoon at Nanxiang Tower.

Every day between May 10 and 14 and every weekend until June 3, Hakka-inspired illustrated children’s books will be on dis-play at the town’s tourist service center. Workshops to make VR goggles (May 19), print paint-ings (May 26) and dyes from plants (June 2) will be held in afternoons at various venues. Fun events at OCT ICIF subvenues

Twenty years after “Three Sisters Waiting for Godot” fl opped, Lin Zhaohua, one of China’s pio-neering theater directors, has revived this play for modern audiences, whom he thinks will better receive it now.

The play, a combination of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” and Irish playwright Samuel Beck-ett’s “Waiting for Godot,” was fi rst put up in 1998. It explored topics like “endless waiting” and “the illusion of a rosy outlook for the future.”

Half of the seats at Beijing’s Capital Theater were empty for the premiere. The 30-show plan was cut to 12. Lin and stage designer Yi Liming lost quite a sum producing the show, which also earned Lin the nickname “box offi ce poison.”

Though the play is full of absurdity, it refl ects reality, where people are always waiting

for something in their life. More often than not, they are disap-pointed, sometimes due to lack of action on their part.

In the latest version, audiences will see the stage design made by Yi in 1998, which has water fl owing onstage resembling the image of a lonely island.
