Skiving is a special application for the manufacture of

precision parts.

Wherever, particularly tight tolerances are required

while holding highest surface finish qualities, the new

Schwanog skiving system offers outstanding advanta-

ges. The working principle of skiving resembles that of

the shave tool / shaving application, however skiving

does without counter rollers and counter guidance and

can consequently also be installed on single spindle and

CNC machines.

Using the current application as an example, the

processing of this precision part made from 316 stainless

steel was achieved by rough and finish applications

using several tools. Problems so arose during the

aligning and adjustment of the tools to one another

due to system inaccuracies. This led to significant

varying tool change-over times between 15 and

60 minutes which were not predictable in advance.

As a sound solution Schwanog offered the customer its

insertable Schwanog skiving-system. Since the cutting

edge is only selectively in use during the feeding,

leading to a lower cutting pressure, and thus to a

better surface finish and noticeably lower producible

tolerances.

Skiving with the Schwanog’s insertable tooling

system offers the following five advantages:

- Faster tool change-overs

- Highest repeatability

- Superior surface finishes

- Vast reduction of part costs

- Achievement of tightest tolerances

For tight tolerances and superior surface finishes:

dear business partners,

The cover story of our latest Schwanog News is dedicated

to skiving as a specialized discipline in the processing of

precision parts. You will read about an example using the

new Schwanog S system which, while combined with

skiving, generated clear advantages for the customer.

In France, the Schwanog team announces increased

strength with Celine Marquis and Isabelle Jovet in the

grinding center and administration sectors. Both

employees have integrated perfectly and reinvigorated

the Schwanog France team spirit. What is already causing

a sensation in France is also becoming increasingly

apparent in the USA while introducing the 48 hour

“Expedited Service”.

The high points of the Schwanog 2012 calendar of events

will be the 2nd Schwanog technology days from June

14-15th and the IMTS 2012 from September 10 -15th.

Here we will once again present the current Schwanog

technology solutions for our customers and prospective

customers and will continue to broaden the networks

through discussions with one another. So, please mark

these dates in your calendar - a separate invitation will,

of course, follow in spring.

We were also able to carry out the facility extension

and relocation of the EDM and logistic sectors just in

time for 2012. We therefore feel prepared as best as

possible for your challenges in 2012.

We wish you a successful 2012 and look forward to

a strong collaboration with you!

Yours,

Clemens Güntert

Schwanog USA introducing 48 hours expedited service:

individual tooling brought to you at the speed of light!

Expediting your orders so quickly... the moon doesn‘t

seem that far away!

6 Astronauts = $1 Billion

1 Space Shuttle = $5 Billion

Schwanog tooling to you

when you need it = Priceless!

With a new expedited service promise, Holger

Johannsen and his team in the USA are setting new

standards in lead times: order now, delivery in

48 hours! this is the formula for success of the

customer-oriented Schwanog US team.

In order to make this unique service possible, Holger

Johannsen again optimized his production processes and

tuned his high flying team to the new requirements.

Proud of the new service, the Schwanog US team shows

itself with a sense of humor in the true-to-style astro-

naut look for the latest edition of the Schwanog News.

The extremely short turn-around times for urgent orders

are all the more astonishing as they concern projects for

form tools orders, individually manufactured according

to customer drawing.

However, according to Holger Johannsen, for this service

to succeed, certain requirements must be followed such

as providing readable part drawings with all necessary

information via email in order to avoid time-consuming

queries.

Yet, new customers or existing customers with new pre-

cision parts benefit from the short turn-around times.

Here the investments which Schwanog USA carried out

in the past few months pay off in even larger capacities.

Please contact us for specifics.

Céline Marquis and isabelle Jovet strengthen Schwanog France!

Mark your calendar now!

Visit Schwanog at the iMtS 2012 in Chicago fromSeptember 10 - 15, 2012.

Isabelle brings the best qualifications for

this position. After her degree with the

majors in literature and languages, she

studied German and then worked for

10 years in the administration department

of a turned part manufacturer.

Isabelle Jovet joined Schwanog since here

she can put all her experience and her

German language skills to good use.

Isabelle is 38 years old, married and has

two daughters 11 and 13 years of age.

In her leisure she enjoys cooking, sports

and, like Céline Marquis, Isabelle also loves

to hike the French Alps in summer as well

as in winter times.

After graduating with a major in tool and

material science, she has worked with

5-axis-CNC and grinding centers for the past

8 years. What Céline Marquis particularly

likes at Schwanog France, besides the great

working atmosphere, is that her home is in

direct proximity to the company.

This gives her the possibility of spending

more quality time with her 2 year old son,

Zian. Since she does not have to worry any

longer about excessive commuting times,

she states to us with a twinkle in her eye.

Céline Marquis is 27 years old and finds an

ideal balance to her daily work in sporty

challenges in the mountains.

We wish both much success and joy working in dominique rossetto’s Schwanog team.

Céline Marquis has been with Schwanog

since September 2011 and works in

the grinding center sector, operating the

Haas grinding machines.

isabelle Jovet has been with Schwanog

since May 2011 and is responsible for

the daily handling of orders and all other

administrative tasks.

For several months now dominique rossetto enjoys committed team strength and women-power in administration and production.

today we are pleased to introduce the two new employees at Schwanog France.

Right at the heart of the Schwanog presentation will be the

new product solutions: Form drilling with the PWP-D

System, internal grooving and turning with the WSI-system,

roughing with the PWP-S system, as well as niche applica-

tions such as skiving.

The dialogue:

Participating technology partners:

New to the team, young and hungry for challenging

customer projects – this is how our new team member

Uwe Laufer can be best characterized.

After his training as an industrial mechanic, Mr. Laufer

first gathered a few years of professional experience

before returning to education. In July of 2011, he

successfully graduated for state approved mechanical

technician.

Production expansion successfully completed:

A jump in capacity for 2012!

After only six month‘s modification phase we were

able to fully complete the production expansion last

year.

The entire EDM sector is now integrated into this new

facility. Through the modification, the path became

free for the expansion of the production capacities.

With the move in December, a new Agie CUT 2000

was installed, in January followed a second machine

of the same type and beginning February 2012

another Haas grinding machine with robots was

added to the grinding center and put into operation.

In addition to this, further additional machines will be

installed over the course of the year 2012.

Profit from clearly higher capacities and optimized

process cycles which lead to shorter delivery times

for you.
