Description This OS unit is about carrying out preparations for operation of various farm machineries

Scope

This unit/task covers the following:

Perform engine overhauling of machinery

Ensure proper functioning of power tillers and other basic mechanisms

Identify new farming techniques for enhancing crop productivity

Performance Criteria(PC) w.r.t. the Scope

Element Performance Criteria

Perform engine overhauling of machinery

To be competent, the user/individual must be able to: PC1. identify and monitor different engine parts PC2. carry out dismantling of engine, cleaning and inspection of various parts as

per the instructions given in the manuals PC3. undertake proper functioning of different engine parts such as:

air intake and exhaust system

fuel system i.e. fuel and oil pump

lubrication system

cooling system i.e. water pump, fan, radiator

governing system PC4. carry out proper measurement and adjustment of different components such

as cylinder liner, piston rings, connecting rods, etc. PC5. carry out reassembling of engine after dismantling in a proper manner PC6. carry out troubleshooting as and when required on a regular basis

Scope This unit/task covers the following:

Ensure proper operation of power tiller

To be competent, the user/individual must be able to: PC1. achieve weight balance of tiller by adding the manufacturer’s recommended

ballast for the attachment before starting operations PC2. ensure pre-start checks PC3. ensure handles and grips are free of mud and grease before operation of the

machinery

PC4. avoid changing gear or suddenly pressing one of the side clutches or brakes

which can cause the tiller to swing to either side or lift upwards during

operation

PC5. maintain protective shield at rear of rotary in good condition as it protects the

operator from stones and mud thrown up by rotary blades

PC6. take the tiller in reverse when going down a slope

PC7. ensure that control linkages, are in good condition and control levers are

operating smoothly before start of operation

Sector Skill Council Agriculture Skill Council of India Guidelines for Assessment 1. Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack will be created by the Sector Skill Council. Each Performance Criteria (PC) will be assigned marks proportional to its importance in NOS. SSC will also lay down proportion of marks for Theory and Skills Practical for each PC. 2. The assessment for the theory part will be based on knowledge bank of questions created by the SSC. 3. Assessment will be conducted for all compulsory NOS, and where applicable, on the selected elective/option NOS/set of NOS. 4. Individual assessment agencies will create unique question papers for theory part for each candidate at each examination/training center (as per assessment criteria below). 5. Individual assessment agencies will create unique evaluations for skill practical for every student at each examination/training center based on this criterion. 6. To pass the Qualification Pack , every trainee should score a minimum of 70% of aggregate marks to successfully clear the assessment. 7. In case of unsuccessful completion, the trainee may seek reassessment on the Qualification Pack.
