Contents Page – Stages of

Production & Audience Feedback

Contents Page – 1st Draft:Here is my first Draft of my Contents Page

for my Indie Music Magazine. I am very pleased with how it’s turned out and how it

looks.

“This looks so professional, like a proper contents page! Everything is in it’s place and its very well structured!” – Hannah Upchurch

“I love the Editors Note, it looks very professional and gives a good personal touch to your magazine!” – Jo Bowler

“This is looking very good. Extremely good progress Beth! However, for the editors note the text is overlapping which doesn’t look as professional – Serena Johns

“There are no signs of anywhere you can go to subscribe to this magazine –Chloe Surridge

Contents Page – (FINAL VERSION)

As you can see from looking at the previous slide to now I have made a few alterations to my Contents Page based on my Audience Feedback. Such as…

The writing in the Editors note section is no longer overlapping, which makes it look a lot more professional and structured. I also added ‘Message from the editor’ as I felt that it would be more clear, especially as this is a brand new magazine.

I also changed my secondary image as I realised that it was the same secondary image that I used on the Main Front Cover of my magazine which made it look unprofessional and dull, this gives the readers more of an insight into what to expect for the article.

What magazines inspired you when creating your Contents Page?

As you can see here, I was inspired by the layout &

structure of Q Magazine’s contents page as

everything looked neat and in place which made it very easy to navigate through

their magazine. I decided to have my main image on the right hand side as they do

and separate my pages into columns and have a section

at the bottom which says “Reveal” on my magazine and “Review” on there's with a secondary image

also. However, they didn’t have an editors note on theirs so I added that instead as it made my

magazine more personal.

What magazines inspired you when creating your Contents Page?

Kerrang’s magazine contents page partly inspired me when

creating my Contents Page even though it is not an Indie Music

Magazine. I really liked the editors note they have on their contents page as it has a clear direct addressed picture of the editor with writing underneath introducing that addition to the

magazine and then her signature was at the bottom of her editors note in a handwritten font which made it look a lot more personal and engages your audience. As you can see that it what I have

attempted to do on mine.
