TRANSCRIPT

Masthead of the contents page. “Music with attitude” is it’s sell line.

Numbers for the pages to find specific contents of Rock Sound magazine.

Content images of bands that appear in this issue of Rock Sound

Make-up (from mise-en-scene) represents the more punk side to the rock genre.

Typography

The masthead for the contents, “rock sound” is in bold, red and silver with distortion which sticks out and is kind of loud which represents the rock genre. The sell line below the masthead is also in bold and has a distorted effect. The page numbers and text of what you can find on the pages are in black and standard font, not flashy, not over the top, not loud, etc.

Layout/Images

Down the left column of the page are the numbers and text of what you can find on them, this covers the whole of the left column from top to bottom with a white background. It is done very neat which could represent the mellower and soft rock. To the right side of the page is a red background with content images of bands that appear in the magazine in front of it. The red background represents the louder, heavier side to rock with the bands in the images wearing make-up and rock-style costumes.

Colour

Not a lot of colours are used for the contents page; red, black, white and brown is all there is. The white and brown represent the softer more neutral side to rock while the red and black are more aggressive and louder side to rock.

Mise-en-scene

Costumes and make-up are used to represent the rock genre in the images used in the contents page; the make-up is punkish and the leather jackets are for the heavier side to rock.
