Role Description
A rooftop gardener is responsible for growing and maintaining all types of plants on rooftops of houses and other buildings. A rooftop gardener is also responsible for the design of the garden and for ensuring that the garden is maintained in good condition.

Scope
This unit/task covers the following:
Grow, propagate and ensure maintainance of the plants
Select appropriate growing medium
Carry out irrigation of the roofgarden
Ensure use of fertilizers and bio nutrients for plant growth and nutrition
Performance Criteria(PC) w.r.t. the Scope

Grow, propagate and ensure maintainance of the plants
To be competent, the user/individual must be able to: PC1. undertake potting & repotting operations PC2. undertake bonsai planting PC3. grow the plants as per standard procedures PC4. check the condition of plants on a regular basis PC5. train & prune the plants as & when required PC6. remove dead/damaged parts from plants to improve quality PC7. provide nutrition such as food and water to keep the plants in good condition PC8. provide proper support for plants to grow properly PC9. clean and maintain the cleanliness of the work area using approved sanitizers
and keep it free from dust, waste, flies and pests PC10. dispose waste materials as per SOP’s

Sector Skill Council Agriculture Skill Council of India Guidelines for Assessment 1. Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack will be created by the Sector Skill Council. Each Performance Criteria (PC) will be assigned marks proportional to its importance in NOS. SSC will also lay down proportion of marks for Theory and Skills Practical for each PC 2. The assessment for the theory part will be based on knowledge bank of questions created by the SSC 3. Individual assessment agencies will create unique question papers for theory part for each candidate at each examination/training center (as per assessment criteria below) 4. Individual assessment agencies will create unique evaulations for skill practical for every student at each examination/training center based on this criteria 5. To pass the Qualification Pack , every trainee should score a minimum of 70% in aggregate 6. In case of successfully passing only certain number of NOS's, the trainee is eligible to take subsequent assessment on the balance NOS's to pass the Qualification Pack
