A) SAFETY Before accessing the internal components of the appliance and effecting repairs or maintenance, ensure that the plug is disconnected from the power socket and that parts subject to heating are allowed to cool down. If electrical measurements should be necessary, it is preferable to measure the resistance; if possible, avoid measuring voltages or currents. IMPORTANT: This appliance is built partly in metal. It is therefore advisable to take great care

during repairs or maintenance to avoid scratches, abrasions or cuts. B) PURPOSE OF THIS MANUAL This Manual is intended for use by service engineers who already have experience in repairing household coffee-making appliances. The purpose of this Manual is to provide general information about this new product and thus to facilitate repairs. For more detailed information regarding specific aspects, refer to the specific technical documents for the appliance:

D) HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT Both circuits (hot water/steam and coffee) utilize the same pump, which means that each function must be performed separately. This paragraph provides a brief description of the procedures and actioning sequences for the three main functions: - Coffee

First, select the desired quantity and start the cycle. After the preparation of the coffee powder and positioning of the automatic unit, the pump switches on and the two solenoid valves open. At this point, the water passes through the flow meter (which determines the quantity), the pump, the first solenoid valve, the coffee heat exchanger and the second solenoid valve, and then into the plastic container in the automatic unit. Here, after passing through the coffee pod, the coffee passes into the brass section of the heat exchanger, from which it flows through a silicone tube to the outlet. At the end of the cycle, the solenoid valves switch off, thus draining the liquid remaining in the circuit into the drip tray.

- Water After selecting this function, press and hold down the START key until the desired quantity has been delivered. The pump and the hot water/steam solenoid valve switch on, and the water is pumped through the first solenoid valve to the water/steam heat exchanger. After passing through the heat exchanger, the water is ducted to the coupling of the hot water/steam outlet tube. When the START button is released, the solenoid valve switches off and drains the liquid remaining in the circuit into the drip tray.

- Steam After selecting this function, press and hold down the START key until the desired quantity has been delivered. The pump and the hot water/steam solenoid valve switch on: the solenoid valve operates normally, while the pump is actioned in brief but frequent pulses. The water fed by the pump passes first through the solenoid valve and then into the hot water/steam heat exchanger. From the heat exchanger the water is ducted to the coupling of the hot water/steam outlet tube. When the START button is released, the solenoid valve switches off and drains the liquid remaining in the circuit into the drip tray.

F) STRUCTURE

1) ACCESSIBILITY (GENERAL) BEFORE OPENING THE APPLIANCE, ALWAYS DISCONNECT IT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. To access the internal parts of the appliance, proceed as follows: Remove the screws from the upper surface of the appliance.

Lift and remove the top as shown in the Fig.

Page 9: COOFEE-MAKERS · 2019. 7. 18. · COFFEE SOLENOID VALVE FLOW METER Both circuits (hot water/steam and coffee) utilize the same pump, which means that each function must be performed

SOI 12.06 FV 9/20 599 38 22-83

Removal of the top gives access to the following components: A. Upper section of the automatic unit for repairs to the thermostats, couplings and tubing. B. Coffee circuit solenoid valve for repairs to the coils or the tubes. C. PCB for checking the wiring or replacement of fuses. D. Flow meter for internal cleaning or replacement. E. Radio interference suppressor for checking or replacement. F. Steam coupling for replacement of the O-ring or for inspection of the tube or couplings. G. Telescopic delivery tube for checking or replacing the support device.

2) ACCESSING THE AUTOMATIC UNIT COMPARTMENT

Access to this compartment may be gained in one of two ways: either through the service panel for inspection of the appliance or, for more serious operations, by removing the right-hand panel of the casing. - SERVICE PANEL: Access through the service panel must not be carried out by the user, but only by a qualified technician. To prevent user access, the panel is closed by a special screw (TORX M4x10), which cannot be removed without a special screwdriver.

Remove the screw and open the door to inspect the desired component.

- REMOVAL OF THE RH SIDE PANEL: Remove the two screws at the rear.

Page 11: COOFEE-MAKERS · 2019. 7. 18. · COFFEE SOLENOID VALVE FLOW METER Both circuits (hot water/steam and coffee) utilize the same pump, which means that each function must be performed

SOI 12.06 FV 11/20 599 38 22-83

Remove the four screws from the side panel.

Remove the five screws from the bottom panel.

Remove the knob which controls grinding of the coffee, as shown in the photograph. Now, the entire RH sheet metal panel can be removed, giving access to the unit and to the microswitches for the lateral door and the grounds discharge system.

Page 12: COOFEE-MAKERS · 2019. 7. 18. · COFFEE SOLENOID VALVE FLOW METER Both circuits (hot water/steam and coffee) utilize the same pump, which means that each function must be performed

SOI 12.06 FV 12/20 599 38 22-83

The figure to the side shows the two microswitches for the grounds discharge door. The microswitch to which three wires are attached also sends a signal to the PCB to reset the grounds level counter.

The figure to the side shows the two microswitches on the lateral door panel. These switches section the entire electrical circuit downstream of the main switch.

SOI 12.06 FV 13/20 599 38 22-83

If it is necessary to access the automatic unit, disconnect the delivery and exit tubes from the heat exchanger as described in the paragraph "USING THE RAPID CONNECTORS". Remove the electrical connections.

Detach the silicone tube from the brass element located in the centre of the heat exchanger cover.

Remove the upper screw from the unit, inserting the screwdriver into the hole indicated to the side.

SOI 12.06 FV 14/20 599 38 22-83

Remove the lower screw indicated in the photograph.

The unit can now be removed by pulling out.

3) ACCESS TO THE COMPONENTS COMPARTMENT Remove the two screws which secure the tank support strip, inserting the screwdriver into the holes indicated opposite.

After removing the tank support, remove the two lateral screws as shown opposite.

Remove the nut which secures the pump/grinder (highlighted in the picture to the side).

Move the left-hand sheet metal panel slightly to the side, and detach the wires from the water sensor.

Remove the LH side panel of the cabinet.

As well as providing free access to all the components in the appliance, it is also possible to replace the main fuse, which is located on the bottom of the machine.

G) USING THE RAPID CONNECTORS The use of rapid connectors facilitates maintenance operations on the hydraulic connections inside the appliance.

No tools are required to use the rapid connectors; they can be manipulated simply with the fingers. The fist step when detaching a tube is to press lightly on the edge of the coupling.

Then it is sufficient to pull the tube gently in order to detach it from the connector.
