    Guidance for setting the Specific Cylinder Oil Feedrates:

    General1 These cylinder oil feedrates overrule any previous Cylinder Oil instructions including GSMS instructions and they are effective from date of issue2 Date of issue is the date contained in the file name e.g. "Cylinder oil matrix 2009-04-15"3 Updating of this file will be done regularly Any previous files must be discarded after receiving new file4 The data in this file will be used in the MSPS system for comparing daily consumption reports, and significant deviations will be commented to vessels5 This file is owned and updated by Technical Services Engine & Machinery dept in Maersk Maritime Technology - mail [email protected] The SLOC is a "Key Performance Indicator"

    Guidance for use7 Find your vessel in the list under the "SLOC" tab and note the basic feedrates for 10%, breakpoint and 85% load8 Go to tab "Example" and input the basic feedrates in the yellow fields9 Input the present Sulphur content in the yellow field

    10 Read the actual instructed specific lube oil feedrate from the graph, at the actual load - or input the actual load in cell M34 and read the feedrate in cell M35.11 Adjust the Cylinder Oil system on the main engine to the desired feedrate, at the actual load.

    12 It is known that different cylinder lube systems have different characteristics i.e. the specific feedrate is often higher at low load than at high load.The feedrates for 10% load are "capped" i.e. reduced in order to follow latest recommendations from engine designersNewer engine types will - if possible - be programmed to adopt the settings given in the tables here, and will follow the instructed thereafter Older engine types with manual adjustment must be fine-tuned when changing loads (apart from manuouvring situations)CLU3 systems having frequency-controlled pump motors (Vogel) must be adjusted manually at low load to different distribution between upper and lower quills
