• What is infringement? The use of an authors work and duplicating their work without the consent or permission of the author.
• The law or court can give a $150,000 fine if anyone were to use copyrighted work and would also be penalized if they did not know that they broke the law.

Law passed in 2002, which gave educators “separate set of rights in addition to fair use, to display and perform others’ work in the classroom (Harper, 2007).”
In addition the educators were now allowed to the same in distance education.

It is imperative that everyone get permission if needed from various sources such as the librarian and/or organizations such as the CCC.
