TELLING THE STORY
DEN HAAG 22 AUGUST 2014 – BIG DATA FOR PEACE
Argel and Arnie are two of the people who will be
benefiting from the Dekembad Footbridge. The
bridge is one of the Resilient Community
Infrastructure Projects in Brgy. Banuang Daan.
Aside from helping the children get to school, this
bridge provides an important evacuation passage
for the remote areas of Banuang Daan; finally
allowing the community to cross the dangerous
river in times of storms and floods.
“One of the worst things we experience every day
is crossing the path going to school,” said Arnie.
“Whenever it rains, we have no choice but to walk
through the puddle. Else, we won’t be able to learn
a day’s lesson in school.”
“We’re really grateful that they’re building this
Dekembad Footbridge. It’s going to be very helpful
especially for us kids,” Argel said happily. “We don’t
need to go down the cliff and swim in the mud
anymore once it’s finished.”
