Whitepaper Abstract SCADA systems are controlling critical parts of the nation's infrastructure such as oil, gas, and water pipelines. Originally developed on very specialized equipment in closed networks, many SCADA systems are now run on general-purpose operating systems and are accessible through the company's data network and even sometimes the larger Internet. With these changes, the systems must be protected against malware, viruses, and other forms of exploitation. Because of the high reliability requirements and inability to take these critical systems offline, many companies have struggled to keep these systems adequately protected with the latest security patches, virus and malware signatures, and other security updates. This paper describes the SCADA environment, includes a short description of the BOUNCER by CoreTrace product, and describes some of the unique challenges that can be met using this product.TRANSCRIPT
