Introduction Project Management is a results-oriented management tool that improves peo- ples’ ability to plan, implement and manage activities that will bring projects to successful completion. This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive and integrative view of the project management process. It will also equip participants with general project management skills and tools to assist in anticipating, coping and dealing with problems that may occur in a certain project. Thus, it is most suitable for anyone working in a project team environ- ment and for engineers who see an increasing management component in their work. It is applicable to any field of work, especially those with a high technologi- cal content. Objectives Upon completion of the course, the participants will 1. Appreciate how adopting a formal project management process improves the chance of a project’s successful outcome. 2. Develop an understanding of concepts, skills and techniques used to propose, plan, secure resources, budget and lead project teams. 3. Appreciate how risks that threaten a project can be controlled and managed. 4. Propose and develop a project plan in the form of a timed and sequenced network of activities. 5. Speaker’s Profile PROF DR SHA’RI MOHD YUSOF has Ph.D. in Total Quality Management from the University of Birmingham. He is a Member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM), a Registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engi- neers Malaysia (BEM) and also a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He has had more than¬five years industrial experience before joining UTM. He spent one year in Japan for training in Mitsubishi Motors Corpo- ration, after which he worked in the Production Department and QC Department in PROTON Holdings Berhad Malaysia.
