Quatriz System Sdn Bhd (Quatriz), Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd (TNGSB) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in October 2013 during the World ITS Congress held in Tokyo, Japan. The MOU signing took place at MHI office in Kobe, Japan. The purpose of the collaboration is to undertake the establishment of Regional ITS R&D Centre in Kuala Lumpur for ITS Solution. Amongst the key initiatives is the joint development for the introduction of Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) and Area Road Pricing (ARP) total end to end solution that is designed to meet the local requirements.

Quatriz, Touch ‘n Go and MHI signed a MOU at MHI office in Kobe, Japan during the World ITS Congress.

Quatriz entered into a MOU agreement with Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) to undertake a Proof of Concept pilot Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) at TPM’s vicinity with the objective of utilizing Touch ‘n Go card as technology ePurse in MLFF environment and its existing infrastructure.

weight in motion

Weight-In-Motion or Weighing In Motion (WIM) is designed to capture and record axle weights and gross vehicle weights as vehicles drive over a measurement site. Unlike static scales, WIM systems are capable of measuring vehicles travelling at a reduced or normal traffic speed and do not require the vehicle to come to a complete stop. This makes the weighing process more efficient, and, in the case of commercial vehicles, allows for trucks under the weight limit to bypass static scale or inspection. WIM can also be applied as a pre-screening device to capture and record weight. This later acts as a measure to guide the vehicle to an existing static station in countries where the laws enforce a static weighing record as proof of evidence.

multi-lane free flow

Quatriz provides solution for Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system that allows highway users to pass through tolling point at high-speeds even when changing lanes without having to slow down to pay for toll. Quatriz MLFF system is a high end solution for Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) which includes deduction, vehicle detection & classification, image acquisition and license plate recognition as well as matching. With MLFF, current toll booths at toll plazas will be replaced with ordinary multi-lane road with only gantries to collect toll fares. Tags or On Board Unit (OBU) and readers at gantry across the multilane road segments will be used to detect vehicle and deduct toll fare using the existing ETC which will embark in Malaysia in 2018.

Congestion at toll plazas is forecasted to increase at about 21% for 36 toll plazas by 2016* and would only worsen if no effort is done to address this issue. This system will reduce congestion rate at the Toll Plazas by increasing vehicles’ throughput at more than 1,200 vehicles per hour.

System Overview

2-Piece Tag is an androgynous on-board unit (OBU) providing rendering services between two unbiquitous RFID standards. It bridges the ISO 18000-6C RFID air-protocol to ISO 14443 Type A. The air protocol is used to interface a MIFARE contactless smartcard. As a result, the tag is referred to as the “Two-Piece Tag” or “OBU”.

vehicle platerecognition system

VPRS runs 4 different Image Processing parts to differentiate the plates:

High frequency stream of imagesImplementation of GPU processingImplementation of Multi-threading processingImplementation of a stable network with sufficient bandwidth to support all the transferring of the data – mainly stream of images

Vehicle Plate Recognition System (VPRS) is one of the solutions provided by Quatriz which enables recognition of vehicle plate among several other images and shapes, characters and in some cases distinction between characters and other shapes found in the plate’s frames. One example would be the labels which can be found in the plate’s frames in Malaysia.

Our VPRS is a high end modular designed solution comprises of plate and character recognition. This solution can be implemented in various backgrounds namely in toll plazas, public or private parking areas, gathering statistic and data or even tracking specific vehicle.
