From The Pastor’s Desk

Dear Parishioners,

This Sunday, at the 11 a.m. mass, Bishop Estevez will install me as the pastor of Corpus Christi Parish. It is a great honor to be the shepherd of this worshipping community. Although I was appointed pastor of the parish when I arrived in early July of 2017, the purpose of this installation mass is to remind me of the duties and responsibilities that are entrusted to me as your shepherd. Following the mass, parishioners are wel-come to join me at the Marian Hall for a delicious rib dinner with all the fixings. If you are coming, I strongly urge you to get a meal ticket from the tables in front of the church. The meal is free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our parishioners.

This weekend I invite you to sign up for an hour of adoration during the weekdays. The sign-up sheet will be available for parishioners on the veranda of the church. An access card will be given to each adorer in order to enter the chapel from outside. This is to en-sure everyone’s safety throughout the hours of the day. We strongly urge you not to give these cards to anyone else without our coordinator’s permission. Our Eucha-ristic Adoration coordinator is Deborah Harvey. We will not begin weekday adoration until all hours are filled in. The hours are from 10 a.m. (or immediately after the recitation of the rosary following the 9 a.m. mass) to 9:00 p.m. We will have Bibles and other devotional ma-terial in the chapel for your prayer time.

Remember that this will definitely not be wasting your time with Jesus!! I can assure you that!

And now some funnies:

#1 - An archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel and came upon a casket containing a mummy. After examining it, he called the curator of a prestigious natural-history museum. "I've just discovered a 3,000 year-old mummy of a man who died of heart failure!" the excited scientist exclaimed. To which the curator replied, "Bring him in. We'll check it out." A week later, the amazed curator called the archae-ologist. "You were right about the mummy's age and cause of death. How in the world did you know?" "Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said, '10,000 Shekels on Goliath'." #2 - Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees. "Yes, Sir." the new recruit

the new recruit replied. "Oh, well that's okay then!" said the boss. "Because after you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you!"

#3 - Three men, an Italian, a Frenchman, and a Jew, were condemned to be executed. Their captors told them that they had the right to have a final meal be-fore the execution. They asked the Frenchman what he wanted. "Give me some good French wine and French bread," he requested. So they gave it to him, he ate it, and then they executed him. Next it was the Italian's turn. "Give me a big plate of pasta," said the Italian. So they brought it to him, he ate it, and then they executed him. Now it was the Jew's turn. "I want a big bowl of strawberries,” said the Jew. "Strawberries!!! They aren't even in season!" "So, I'll wait..."

#4 – A woman from New York was getting her affairs in order. She prepared her will and made her final ar-rangements. As part of these arrangements, she met with her pastor to talk about what type of funeral ser-vice she wanted, etc.

She told her Pastor she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Bloomingdales. “Bloomingdales!” the Pastor said. “Why Bloom-ingdales?” “That way, I know my daughters will visit me twice a week.” Fr. Murphy

DIVINE MERCY CORNER “Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My Mercy. My daughter, write about My Mercytowards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My Mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sin-

ner if he makes an appeal to My compasion.. But on the contrary. I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable Mercy. Write: before as I come as a just judge, I first open wide the door of My Mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My Mercy must pass through the door of My Justice.
