ORDINARY TIME IN OUR LITURGY Last Tuesday, after the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, we began the Ordinary time.

Ordinary time is the longest liturgical season in the Catholic Church, encompassing either 33 or 34 weeks each year. Because other liturgical seasons begin or end with movable feasts, the length of Ordinary time can vary slight-ly; however, 33 weeks is the more common length. The weeks are numbered, e.g., the first Sunday of Ordinary Time, the second Sunday of Ordinary Time, and so forth. Ordinary time is technically one liturgical season, though it is divided into two periods as “the Season after Epiphany” and “the Season after Pentecost.” The liturgical color of Ordinary Time is green; however, other appropriate colors are worn on particular feast days. Let us live this time in union and communion with Jesus Christ in order to know him better and make him known through our words and our deeds. I share with you some snapshot of our December's celebrations.

EL TIEMPO ORDINARIO EN LA LITURGIA

El pasado martes, después de la fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, inició Tiempo Ordinario en el calendario litúrgico que ocupa la mayor parte del año: 33 ó 34 semanas, de las 52 que hay y el color verde es el distintivo para este tiempo. Con este nombre se indica que es un tiempo diferente a

los “tiempos fuertes” como el Adviento, la Navidad, la Cuaresma y la Pascua. En el Tiempo Ordinario tenemos la oportunidad de encontrarnos con Cristo y hacer la experiencia de los discípulos que escucharon la llamada y le siguie-ron. Este tiempo nos ayudara a conocer a Cristo, a marlo y a seguirlo. Les invito a aprovechar este Tiempo Ordinario. Dios va a pasar por nuestro camino. Y durante este tiempo mire-mos a ese Cristo, que desde temprano ora a su Padre, y después durante el día se desvive llevando la salvación a to-dos, terminando el día rendido a los pies de su Padre, que le consuela y le llena de su infinito amor, de ese amor que al día siguiente nos comunicará en abundancias. Si no nos entusiasmamos con Cristo, no podremos entusiasmar a otros. Les comparto unas fotos de nuestras celebraciones del mes de diciembre.

Corpus Christi Young People For Life

Please join our Confirmation students standing for Life as we march in the Walk for Life West Coast on Saturday January 27, 2018. We will board a bus leaving from the church parking lot at 8:00am arriving in San Francisco in time for Mass at 9:30am celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

The rally begins at 12:30pm in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, with the walk starting at 1:30 pm ending at Justin Herman Plaza. We will board the bus arriving back at Corpus Christi about 4:30pm. Caminata Por la Vida

Únase a los estudiantes de Confirmación en la Caminata Por La Vida el sábado 27 de enero. Aborda-remos un autobús que saldrá del estacionamiento de la iglesia a las 8:00am y llegara a San Francisco a las misa de las 9:30am celebrada por el Arzobispo Salvatore Cordileone en la Catedral de Santa Ma-ria.

El mitin comienza a las 12:30pm en Civic Center Plaza de San Francisco y la caminata comienza a la 1:30pm y termina en Justin Herman Plaza. Abordaremos el autobús de regreso a Corpus Christi a eso de las 4:30pm. La donación de autobús sugerida es $10. Bereavement Support Group Winter 2018

St. Vincent de Paul Update Thank you, Parishioners, for your support over the past three months. Because of your generosity, we have been able to provide the following services to our neighbors in need.
