Myrtle’s Message

Skyview Neighborhood Park, which will be renamed the Officer Christopher Wilson

Memorial Park, sits adjacent to the Southeastern Division of the San Diego Police

Department where Officer Wilson served the community with integrity, dignity, and

honor. Officer Wilson, a 17-year veteran with the San Diego Police Department, was

shot in the line of duty on October 27, 2010 while serving an arrest warrant that turned

into a fatal shootout in the Skyline Hills Community. Four years later to the very day,

this community will honor Officer Wilson’s memory and the ultimate sacrifice he made to

protect and serve San Diegans. Open to the public. All are welcome. Please plan to

attend.

Council Approves Amendments to Housing Impact Fee Ordinance

Councilmember Cole’s Proposal Leads to Funding Update After 18 Years of Stagnation

This week at City Hall, City Council took a stand for the low-wage workers’ right to have

quality affordable housing proximate to jobs while encouraging job growth and economic

development in San Diego. Each new affordable housing unit will generate 2.1 jobs

for San Diego’s economy. This compromise, in cooperation with the Jobs Coalition, is

expected to also generate an additional $3 million over a five year period above the

current fees. I am grateful to my Council colleagues, affordable housing advocates, and

the business community for supporting the hard work of my office and our collective

commitment to address the issue of housing affordability.
