What is Logos

LogosUniversityisanon-residentschooloftheologyandministry.Recognizingthatitisnotpracticalforallwhoarecalledtoministrytopackuptheirfamiliesandleavetheirhomesorplacesofministrytopackuptheirfamiliesandleavetheirhomesorplacesofministrytoattendaconventional“brickandmortar”school,LogosUniversitybringsquality,affordableandaccessibleministryandtheologicaltrainingwherestudentsliveandwork.

Atruepioneerinthisenvironment,wehavebeenequippingmenandwomenforministryvocationsthroughdistanceeducationsince1977.OurstudentsandgraduatesaresuccessfullyandfaithfullyservingtheLordallovertheworld.

LogosUniversityoffersdegreeprogramsinAppliedTheology,BiblicalStudies,ChristianCounseling,ChristianEducation,ChristianLeadershipandManagement,Divinity,TheologicalStudies,andTheology.Allofourgraduatedegreeprogramsarecustom-madewiththestudent’sneedsandinterestsinmind.Werecognizethatmoststudentsdonotfitintoa“cookiecutter”academicprogramsowetakegreatpainstoprovideourstudentswiththecoursesthatwillbestpreparethemforwhattheLordhascalledthemtodo.Degreeprogramsarecustom-madeforstudentsinurban,suburban,ruralandinternationalenvironments.AllofourprogramsareofferedfromtheAssociatestotheDoctorallevel.

Ourconceptofdistanceeducation,whichwasonceconsideredimpractical,hasnowbeenadoptedbyleadinginstitutionsofhighereducationasastandardfortrainingforministryandnon-ministrypreparation.

Ourleadership,faculty,staffarenotdisconnectedfromthepulpitorlocalchurchpressuresofthismodernworld.Ourfacultyisendowedwithavasttreasureofministryexperienceandstrongacademiccredentials.Ministryprofessionalswithadvanceddegreesareendorsedintheirmajorofconcentrationtooffermentorshiptoourstudents.

LogosUniversityprovidesauniqueopportunityforstudentstopreparethemselvesacademically,professionally,andspirituallytoserveGodintheministryandprofessionstowhichtheyhavebeencalled.Asanindependent,educationalministrythatisthoroughlyBiblicalinitsphilosophyofeducation,LogosUniversityisaservanttoboththelocalchurchandtheindividualstudent;providingcurriculum,consultation,anddirectionforthepursuitofhis/hereducationalgoals.

History of Logos University

LogosUniversitywasbirthedoutofavisionarymandatetoservethebodyofChristthroughaneducationalpartnershipwiththelocalchurch.Withmorethan37yearsofservice,thismandatecontinuestobeourclarioncall.ThroughthemergerofseveralsmallBibleSchoolsandinstitutesdatingbackasfaras1977,wearetodayaninternationalChristianeducationalministrywithstudentsrepresentingdozensofcountries.Fromasimpledistanceeducationschoolofferingcertificateprograms,LogosUniversityenteredanewphaseinupgradingthestandards,polices,anddegreesundertheleadershipofDr.CharlesTraviswhenhebecamepresidentin1994.LogosUniversitytookonadecidedlyinternationalscopeashepartneredwithministryleadersallovertheworld.HispassionforequippingtheBodyofChristhasfeaturedprominentlyinmakinganimpactinover26countries.LogosUniversityrestructuredtotheUniversitymodelinholdsnowinApril2014,therebyofferingourstudentsarichervarietyofprogramsandbetterqualifiedfacultyinthemajorsweoffer.

ManyotherChristianleadersacrossAmericahavemadesubstantialcontributionstothelifeandgrowthofLogosUniversity.Fortheirselflessandvisionaryinvestment,weareeternallygrateful.Thecurrentadministrationandfacultyareeverconsciousofthedeepresponsibilitythathasbeenpassedontous.Toallwhohavegonebeforeandtothosewhofollow,weexpressourgratitude.

Philosophy of Education

Ourdegreeprogramsaredesignedtobepracticalaswellasacademic,preparingpeopleforministryandserviceinthefulfillmentoftheircall.Inlinewiththegoalsandphilosophyexpressed,LogosUniversitycontinuestoattainhigherlevelsofbothacademicandinstitutionalrecognition;however,ourprimarygoalisaChristianeducationthatbuildsasolidfoundationinthelifeofthestudentforbothsecularandecclesiasticalservice.

Accreditation, Authorization, and Recognition

LogosUniversityisauthorizedbyTheFloridaStateBoardofIndependentCollegesandUniversitiestograntdegreesandcontinuesasaregistereddegree-grantinginstitutionwiththeFloridaDepartmentofEducationCommissionforIndependentEducation(CIE).

LogosUniversityispeeraccreditedthroughtheAssociationofChristianSchoolsInternationalandtheInternationalAssociationofBibleCollegesandSeminaries.Peeraccreditationisarecognitionofstandards,policies,andprogramsoflike-mindedinstitutionsfreeofgovernmentinvolvement.Theseorganizationsarededicatedtocreatingandofferingqualitytheologicaleducation.Itisimportanttoconsiderthat:thedegreeprogramsofthiscollegearedesignedsolelyforreligiousvocations.

LOGOSUniversityequipsstudentsforministry.Theadvantagesanddisadvantagesofenrollinginaregionallyornationallyaccreditedinstitutionmustbeconsideredbyeverystudentonthebasisofwhattheirministrygoalsare.

HousingFacilitiesLogosUniversityisnotatraditional“brickandmortar”school.ThereisnoresidencyrequirementintheStateofFlorida,soallcourseworkcanbedonefromtheconvenienceandcomfortofyourhomeorministryoffice.Wedonotofferdormitory/housingfacilities.StudentsTransferringtoLogosLogosUniversitywelcomestransferstudentsdesiringtopursuetheireducationalgoalswhilewishingtotransferfromanothercollege.SealedofficialtranscriptsmustbesubmitteddirectlytoLogosUniversityfromallinstitutionsoflearningthestudentattendedaftergraduatingfromhighschool.Suchtranscriptsmustindicatecoursesentered,showwhetherthecourseisinprogressorcompleted,thegradeassigned,andsemester/quartercredithoursearned.Resultsofaptitudeandotherspecialteststakenandevidenceofstandingshouldalsobeindicatedonthetranscript.TransferabilityofCreditsEarnedtoLogosThetransferabilityofcreditearnedatotherinstitutionsandtransferredtoLogosUniversityisatthediscretionofLogosUniversity.EveryeffortwillbemadetoacceptcreditearnedatanotherinstitutionthatwillhelpthestudentcompletetheirdegreegoalthroughLogosUniversity.ThetransferabilityofcreditearnedatLogosUniversityandtransferredtoanotherinstitutionisatthediscretionofthereceivinginstitution.TransferabilityofCreditsEarnedAtLogosTransferabilityofcreditsearnedisalwaysatthediscretionofthereceivinginstitution.Whiletransferofcreditsisneverguaranteed,LogosUniversitystudentshavesuccessfullytransferredtheircreditsanddegreestoanumberoffullyaccreditedinstitutions.StudentscontemplatingafuturetransfertoafullyaccreditedschoolshouldcontacttheinstitutiontowhichtheyplantotransfertodeterminetransferabilityofcreditspriortoenrollingatLogosUniversity.ThefollowingisalistofaccreditedschoolsthathaveacceptedLogosUniversitystudentsinthepast.Thereisnoimplicitorexplicitguaranteethatanystudentwillsuccessfullytransfertotheinstitutionslistedbelow:
