A five days workshop on “Application’s of PLC and SCADA” was held
during 26th - 30th April 2016, organized by Department of Instrumentation
Engineering at Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering &
Technology, Vishnupuri, Nanded, an autonomous institute affiliated to the
Government of Maharashtra state. It was sponsored by Technical Education
Quality Improvement Program phase-II (TEQIP-II) of Government of India.
The workshop focused on practical aspect of role of PLC and SCADA in
Core Industries. The workshop was entirely planned and coordinated by
Dr. R. H. Chile, Dr. S. T. Hamde and Mr. J. G. Parkhe. Experts for the workshop
were Mr. Venkata Sarath and Mr. Sayed MD Asadur Rahman, Innovians
Technology, Noida, U. P.
The inaugural function of the workshop was held at 09.30 AM on
April 26, 2016. The inauguration accomplished in the presence of the invited
experts Mr. Venkata Sarath and Mr. Sayed MD Asadur Rahman,

Dr. R. H. Chile, Dr. S. T. Hamde Professor, Department of Instrumentation
Engineering. The inauguration was anchored by Ms. Kalyani Aundhekar,
Student from Department of Instrumentation Engineering.
The Day 1 included the session on introduction to PLC, types of PLCs
and programming PLCs. During this session SCADA development tools and
PLC programming tools are summarized. Installation of Micrologics 1200c a
PLC programming tool was covered during this session.
The day 2 is covered with continuation of SCADA development for basic
applications. Theoretical session with hands on training regarding SCADA
developing tool was discussed throughout the day.
The day 3 and day 4 included PLC programming for various
applications. The industrial applications are covered during this session.
The Day 5 focused on more practice on PLC programming, SCADA
development and Human Machine Interface.
The fifth day was concluded by valedictory function with felicitation of
experts, followed by HOD and faculty member’s address and certificate
distribution. The students gave feedbacks about the workshop and the
function ended with vote of thanks.
