  • INTRODUCTIONWhat is computer assisted learning? According to Dunn et. al (2009), computer assisted learning is an approach that uses a computer to deliver all or part of the subject content.Today, it is a teaching and learning approach based multimedia technology to facilitate student learning while the teacher plays the role of a manager or facilitator (Dunn et. al, 2009). Computer assisted courseware is suitable to help weak students in their learning and enrichment to students who are interested.

  • PROBLEM STATEMENTAccording to the report, there were 100,000 students in primary school can not read (Utusan Malaysia, October 12, 2005). The conventional form of teaching and static reading materials does not interest the child to learn. The main problem that arises is the conventional form of teaching and static reading materials does not interest the child to learn.

  • ADDIE MODELSelection of systematic instructional design model is very important for the design to be a framework that helps developers or designers in designing and developing multimedia software in a more systematic way. ADDIE model is chosen as a guide to ensure an orderly and systematic development process.

  • ADDIE MODEL (CONT.)

  • ADDIE MODEL (CONT.)Analysis PhaseThe problems related to the instructional needs described and explained along with goals and objectives.During the initial analysis, the observations were carried out on-site has helped developer to gather as much information related to the initial requirements and it has been summarized in Table 1.

  • ADDIE MODEL (CONT.)Design Phase Instructional strategies have been analyzed, planned and designed. The selection of a suitable media was done to ensure the transmission medium is appropriate and effective to be used.

  • ADDIE MODEL (CONT.)Development Phase Material or substance to courseware is developed based on decisions made during the design phase.

  • ADDIE MODEL (CONT.)Implementation and Evaluation PhaseInvolves the implementation of courseware for students with low English language proficiency to test courseware's ability level course work in a real environment.

  • MEDIA SELECTIONAutoPlay Media Studio 8 Personal EditionPaintAero SWF.max Flash PlayerFLV ConverterYoutube

  • LESSON PLANRefer to Microsoft Word

  • ASSESSMENTAfter the students have gone through the lesson, they will be given a quiz (worksheet) for them to answer. It is to check their understanding of the lesson. If the students happen to show some improvement, the courseware is assumed to be a success. However, if the students are still at the same level, the developer will try to put some alteration to the courseware.

  • THANK YOU.Now, lets explore the courseware prototype.
