10am Service (one service)—Christmas Day

WELCOME AND HAPPENINGS IN OUR COMMUNITY Welcome! Please fill out the “Welcome to Worship” registration form included in your bulletin and place completed forms in the offering plate later in the service.

Our Mission: Changing lives through Jesus Christ to make a difference.

Prelude “Joy to the World” Bish Please sing along! UMH 246

Good News! Isaiah 52:7-10 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

* Call To Worship (John 1:1-5 The Message)

The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one. Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!—came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.

* Christmas Day Prayer

God of glory, your splendor shines from a manger in Bethlehem! Today, we come and celebrate your Son’s birth which advents a new day for humanity. Just as the dawn of a new day wipes away the dark of the previous night, so you Son’s birth advents a new dawn of love and light in a world once cast in darkness. Draw us close to this child, warm our hearts, open our eyes and may we bear his light in this world where we are called to serve. Amen.

* Opening Hymn “Jesus is the Light of the World” W&S 3056 (Please pass the peace during the Fourth verse’s chorus)

(Chorus) Walk in the light, beautiful light; come where his love and his mercy are bright. Shine all around us by day and by night, Jesus, the Light of the World.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation , who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” 8 Listen! Your sentinels lift up their voices, together they sing for joy; for in plain sight they see

the return of the Lord to Zion. 9 Break forth together into singing, you ruins of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God

Love has come, and never will leave us! Love is life everlasting and free.

Love is Jesus with in and among us. Love is the peace our hearts are seeking.

Love! Love! Love is the gift of Christmas.

Love! Love! Praise to you, God on high!

* Benediction and Sending Forth (please be seated)

Postlude “Christmas Postlude on ‘In Dulci Jubilo’” Martin

At the conclusion of the service you are invited to come, help yourself or take home some of the cupcakes on our Christmas Tree.

See the bright and Morning Star, Jesus, the Light of the World! He has risen in our hearts, Jesus, the Light of the World! (chorus)

He’s the lamp that lights our way, Jesus, the Light of the World! Step by step and day by day, Jesus, the Light of the World! (chorus)

No more darkness, no more night, Jesus, the Light of the World! He will shine forever bright, Jesus, the Light of the World! (chorus)

He’s the love that lights our hearts, Jesus, the Light of the World! Loving others is our part, Jesus, the Light of the World! (chorus – with passing the peace)

Love has come – a light in the darkness! Love shines forth in the Bethlehem skies. See, all heaven has come to proclaim it; Hear how their song of joy arises: Love! Love! Born unto you, a Savior! Love! Love! Glory to God on high.

Love is born! Come, share in the wonder. Love is God now asleep in the hay. See the glow in the eyes of his mother; What is the name her heart is saying? Love! Love! Love is the name she whispers. Love! Love! Jesus, Immanuel.
