Needs and Specifications
Odor comes from bad breath and perspiration or feminine fluid that meets bacteria. Nowadays,
existing anti-odor products are specifically just to reduce one type of odor, such as deodorant for
body odor, feminine hygiene for feminine odor, and mouthwash for bad breath.
YASAS have spread questionnaires to 100 respondents in ITB and get their needs of anti-odor
product (needs number 1-8) and their preference of anti-odor product form. Based on that, the
most important need of anti-odor product are its long-lasting effect and easy to use anytime in
oral form.
Then, we particularly propose an anti-odor product in candy form (because it is one of types oral
form that easy to use anytime) and gain their needs about this type of product (needs number 9-
13). After that, we organize the needs by rank and build product’s specifications as shown in
Table 1 below.

Product Concept
Nowadays, existing anti-odor products have some shortcoming such as causing yellow stain on
clothes, damaging body health due to block sweat gland, lasting only few hours, and cannot be
applied practically. Therefore, YASAS do an innovation to develop an anti-odor product to solve
various types of odor.
The proposed idea is MARSH Jelly, Beluntas candy as an anti-odor product. MARSH Jelly is a
chewy candy which can be consumed everywhere and every time. The privileges of this product
are natural ingredients base, the ability to reduce odor, no side effects for health, and no yellow
stain on clothes. Target markets of this product are people above 7 years old because they have a
lot of activity, such as studying at school, travelling, playing, working all day, etc.
Beluntas is one of grasses which easy to find in tropical country such as Indonesia. One of the
active substances in Beluntas is flavonoids, an anti-bacterial substance. One of bacteria that react
with flavonoids is Staphylococcus sp., body odor bacteria. Flavonoids work as anti-bacterial
substance by forming complex compounds with extracellular protein that dissolved in cell walls
of microbes. Many studies have been conducted to determine the other uses of Beluntas, i.e.
antipyretic, treat lumbago, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, Leukorea, etc.
MARSH Jelly production is eco-friendly because of natural ingredients base. So, it makes this
product has no waste that damage environment. The only one waste that produced is fiber of
Beluntas. This waste can be used as fertilizer.
Supply Chain Description
The ingredients needed to produce MARSH Jelly are obtained from suppliers, while beluntas is
obtained from beluntas yard. Those natural based ingredients are sent to factory’s ingredients
warehouse by supply trucks from suppliers that are easily found in Indonesia. So the
sustainability of MARSH Jelly’s production is guaranteed.
Product’s Quality Control (QC) is needed to be done in order to make sure that the candies
produced satisfy its specifications. Candies which are out of specifications will not be distributed
due to customer’s pleasure. After that, the candies are stored to product’s warehouses to be
packaged and distributed to consumers such as groceries stores, small stores, supermarkets, and
minimarkets as MARSH Jelly using product trucks. The distribution makes customers easier to
get the MARSH Jelly. From those stores, customers can buy this healthy and delicious MARSH
Jelly.
