AVI: (to audience) Hi, my name is Avi and this is my robot, Sihlo!

SIHLO: Greetings Earthlings.

AVI: We are undercover investigators for the Heavenly Headquarters and this is my crew of special agents behind me.

(Special Agent hands off a pair of special sunglasses to Avi to read a secret message from Heavenly Headquarters.)

AGENT: (to Avi) Here, put these on and blink twice for a message from Headquarters.

(Cue Track 1 - Newsroom instrumental. Lights come up on Heavenly Headquarters stage left and light stays center stage.)

ANCHOR: This mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the town of Presentville. The town is in need of Joy, Peace, and Love...a.k.a. weneedyoutofindChristmas!Thisdevicewillself-destructin 5-4-3-2-1.

AVI: (while Anchor counts down, throw glasses and jump for cover) Everybody run for cover! (tiny smoke poof, then to audience) Well, James Bond makes it look easy. Let me give you the inside scoop.

(Lights go down stage left. Cue Track 2 - Avi’s instrumental.)

AVI: Theyearis2020.Youseeinthepastseveralyears,alothas changed in the town of Presentville. Christmas has become more about the presents and less about His Presence. In a town where buildings build themselves, cars drive themselves, meals cook themselvesandchores...yes...finishthemselves!Iknow,right?! People’s hands are as free as they’ve ever been, but no one is liftingafingerfortheirfellowman.Peopledoforthemselvesand keep to themselves around here, and it’s our job to see that this year we bring back Christmas! Let me set the scene for you. It’s about to be CHRISTMAS break here at Presentville Elementary School.

(Music pauses and spotlight moves to Ms. Lucy. She unfreezes and clears her throat loudly).

MS. LUCY: Youmean“Present”break,not“Christmas”break.It’sallllllllll about the presents here in Presentville. Speaking of presents, I really hope I get that snake skin Prada bag I’ve been wanting... andoneofthoseSnuggies...ohandaSnackeez!Youknowthe cup with the drink and the snacks all in one so you can eat and drink from the comfort of your own couch while binge watching funnycatvideos?!Ahh,thelife.

(Ms. Lucy and class freezes and spotlight goes back to narrator, Avi).

SIHLO: That was awkward.

AVI: You’retellingme.(Rolls eyes. Music starts again.) So you can see what I mean. Christmas is in jeopardy! What was once about a child in a manger is allllllllll about the gifts under a tree. But on this day, one kid has an opportunity to change everything.

(Black out.)

(Lights come up stage right on classroom, students unfreeze.)

MS. LUCY: Alright, alright, settle down class. During your present break, I hope that you get lots and lots of gifts, eat lots and lots of food, and don’t forget to set your DVRs to watch the Santa’s Present Daytotallyawesome,fabulous,over-the-topMusicalSpectacular with special guests like Rudolph and those boys from One Direction!It’sgonnabeSU-PERfun!Now,haseveryonetexted theirwishlistonSanta’stoyshopapp?(Everyone raises their hand except Jovi.) Oh great! Good job class! It looks like everyoneexceptyouJO-VI.

JOVI: Yeah...aboutthat.I’vebeenthinking,andinsteadofgetting presents this year I am doing something big for the community!

MS. LUCY: Ohyoumeanlikeafabulousparty?!Whatagreatidea!

JOVI: No,notexactly.Iwanttohaveaneventrightintheheartof dowtown to share Christmas and a warm meal with the community. And I’m thinking I will just skip presents this year.

CLASS: What!?! (gasps and whispers)

I’m too young for this. Deep breathes. (Does a strange vocal exercise to calm down) Hummm nunny hummm nunny nunny ho ho ho. (sighs loudly)That’sbetter.SoJovi,youweresaying?

JOVI: I don’t really need or want anything. This year I just want to bring back Christmas.

MS. LUCY: Christmas?!OhJoviyou’rebeingsilly.Obviouslyyou’ve forgotten how awesome it is to untie the bows, rip the wrapping paper, and get everthing your little heart desires.

REX: Yeah,Jovi.WhatwouldPresentDaybewithoutgifts?!

CLASS: Yeah,right,yeah! (gossiping, chatter)

JOVI: It would be...different. But I think about all the toys I’ve gotten over the years and they all end up in the same place. The Presentvillelandfill.It’sfilledwithmountainsofunwantedtoys. My old toys, your old toys...

STELLA: She does kind of have a point. Last year I got a hover board and Ionlyuseditlikeonceandit,like,caughtonfire.PlusI,like, broke a nail and that was devastating.

BODIE: Yeah,IgotanEZBakeOvenbutIdon’tevencook.Mymom’s robot does all the cooking.

RORY: Idon’tevenrememberwhatIgotlastyear.Hmmmmm...?

MS. LUCY: Now class, you can’t possibly think that the world would trade in theirgiftsandgiveupPresentDay?!

JOVI: It’s not so much about what we are giving up, but what God gave to us.

JOVI: Well, Operation Finding Christmas! First, let’s get the word out that we will be providing a free meal right here in the heart of the city tonight and we can put on a Christmas pageant to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!

BODIE: Does that require us to cook, because I don’t cook. All I know how to do is play drums and rock out to heavy metal. Maybe I couldperformforthem?! (has an air guitar screamo moment)

JOVI: Haha, no Bodie. I think we are good on the entertainment. And no, you don’t have to cook. We are just there to help serve the pre-madesoupandtalktopeople.
