Common mistakes

1. Starting your research too late

– The process can take a long time

2. Giving up after a refusal

– It can take a few tries to get your internship.

3. Not applying because you assume the company does not have internships

or the dates don’t match

4. Do not respond to all the formal proposals you receive

– Contact the others to tell them you are not available anymore.

− The internship always involves an additional semester

− From September 2015 some new dispositions have been made:

II. Internship agreement and procedures

Important information you should know : Compensation/remuneration

In principle, the internship is unpaid (under French legislation, compensation is mandatory).

The insurance included in the internship agreement only takes effect in case of a gratuity/compensation (company doesn't pay any

social contribution for you) but will NOT cover the student if the internship is remunerated with a salary.

The company has to issue its own contract/insurance if a salary is paid.

Any remuneration for the student needs to be discussed between the Student and the host company, as the University cannot take part

in such matters.

If the company offers you a remuneration, we recommend you to negotiate a gratuity/compensation in order to benefit from the ULB

insurance.

Internship Fee

A non-refundable single fee of 800 Euros is requested to every company which hire an intern.

The fee is to be paid to the Solvay School of Economics & Management (Solvay Executive Education) for administrative and

supervision purposes.

The student has no responsibility to negotiate this contribution.

All you‘ll have to do is to give the CIP Flyer (as an attachment) to the contact person of the company.

For further questions or any contest, please inform the company to take contact Mrs. Soha Saati, Head of Corporate Alliance.

Original copy of the internship agreement

The ULB insurance covering the student throughout the period of the internship shall be effective

only from the receipt date of the original internship agreement form (manually signed by the student, the company and the Dean)

by the CIP Team.

The original form must be deposited or sent at the latest before the start of the internship at the Career Services office.
