The reporting period ends December 31, 2009 for those CPAs who are licensed by the Georgia State Board of Accountancy. By this date, each person who wishes to renew his/her license must have completed 80 hours of CPE, 16 hours of which must be in specific accounting and auditing topics. If you had extra hours from the prior reporting period, you may carry over up to 15 hours. However, you may not carry over accounting and auditing hours. You must earn 16 hours of accounting and auditing credit each reporting period. Sign up today to take full advantage of the high quality CPE courses the GSCPA offers.

How many CPE hours have I earned with the GSCPA?Members of the GSCPA can check their CPE history (transcript) at ay time on the GSCPA web site, www.gscpa.org. From the home page, choose the teal “My Membership” tab and then choose “My CPE Transcript” from the drop-down menu. Login using your GSCPA member number and your last name as the password. Once logged on, choose “View CPE Course History” to see your CPE history.

What are the CPE requirements for Georgia?The Georgia State Board of Accountancy’s reporting period ends December 31, 2009. CPAs licensed in Georgia must meet the following requirements:• January 1, 2008 - December 31, 2009 must earn 80 hours of CPE• Need to earn a minimum of 20 hours in each year• 16 of the 80 hours need to be A&A subjects

If I take a class somewhere else does it qualify for CPE and how many hours does it qualify for?It is possible for you to claim CPE credit for a class you took somewhere else. The Georgia State Board of Accountancy regulates the CPE requirements. To see if a class you took through another organization qualifies for CPE, please check the State Board’s guidelines on the GSCPA web site under the blue “Continuing Education” tab and then select “CPE Credit and Reporting Guidelines.”

I cannot make a seminar but I still need CPE. What are my options?Self-study is a great way to earn CPE credit if you cannot make it to a seminar on a specific date. You can earn self-study credit at a time that is convenient for you. See page 11 for a list of self-study vendors the GSCPA recommends.

Cancellation Policy: Seminars and Conferences - Cancellations/transfers made up to 3 weeks before a seminar or conference will not incur an administration fee. Cancellations/Transfers made within the 3 weeks and up to 3 business days before a seminar or conference are subject to a $50 administration fee. Cancellations/Transfers made within 3 business days are subject to a $100 administration fee for members; $150 administration fee for nonmembers. Cancellations/No-shows on the date of the event forfeit the entire registration fee. No refunds or transfer of fees will be made after the date of the event.

Webcasts - Effective June 1, 2009, cancellations for webcasts are subject to a $20 administration fee. Cancellations/No-shows on the date of the event forfeit the entire registration fee. No refunds or transfer of fees will be made after the date of the event.
