Helping young peopleinto work and trainingA group of young peoplehave completed a pilot e2ecourse at the Crew Clubaimed at helping them getinto work, education andtraining.
The 2-week Fast Lane includedmusic & art sessions and trips tolocal education providers withhelp from Connexions.
Participant Jade Simpkins, 19,says: “We used AppleGarageband to make our ownsoundtrack...and made our ownCD covers.”
“We recorded our own voices inthe music studio. On top of thatwe looked at courses and col-leges. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in music.”

Primary schoolmusic videosPupils from Whitehawk Primary Schoolhave been busy making more musicvideos in after-school clubs at the CrewClub.
Two new groups wrote, recorded and filmed theirown videos - one in the style of rock and one inthe style of rap. They had to use special effects, agreen screen and got to dress up in costumes.
The rock group called themselves The Rock Kidsand made a song titled “Why Don’t the SunShine?”
The rap group called themsleves Streetz Aheadwith their song titled “On the Streets ofWhitehawk.” Everyone got a copy of the DVD andthey be shown at the school assembly soon.”

Youth forum The Youth Forum met up inNovember to discuss importantissues for the Crew Club such asthe upcoming OAP ChristmasParty and trustees dinner.
The meeting was held at Pizza Hut inBrighton Marina.
Paper craftsThe Crew Club had an eveningart session making paper craftswith volunteer Eleanor Davies.
Paper flowers were used as table decora-tions in the club’s meeting rooms.
Rock climbingParticipants of the Kickz project havebeen getting involved in rock-climbing.
Run at Stanley Deason Leisure Centre, this 10-week course teaches young people climbing tech-niques and everyone will get a certificate on com-pletion.
The course runs every Friday evening, see Rickyfor details.

High Sheriffdonates food
Christmas mealfor trustees
The High Sheriff of East Sussex andSainsbury’s came to the Crew Clubto donate food for cookery classes.
They have offered give potatoes and otherhealthy food in future.

Members of the Crew Club treated theboard of trustees to a Christmas dinnercooked at the club.
It gave the the trustees a chance to talk to some ofthe young people face to face about the clubs’actibvities.
The organic food was made by the young peoplewith Simon from the Sticky Fingers Food Project.
