With today’s Feast of Christ the King,our Scriptures remind us of the type of Kingwe have and the necessity to imitate him.Who is it that will enter the Kingdom of God?As Jesus explained:. . .the king will say to those on his right,'Come, you who are blessed by myFather.Inherit the kingdom prepared for youfrom the foundation of the world. For Iwas hungry and you gave me food. . .

Entrance into God’s Kingdom dependsupon the extent to which we have loved andcared for others, including our enemies. If we

exclude others from our care and concern, so shall we beexcluded from God’s care and kingdom:

Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me,you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the deviland his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nofood,...

In reality, the choice is ours.

To proclaim truly that Christ is our King and Lordmeans that we accept Him and His ways over our own.Stewardship is the spirituality that helps us accomplish this.By dedicating and committing to the Lord 10 % of all of theLord’s blessings and gifts to us, we express our gratitudeand thankfulness. How appropriate we make this prayerfulcommitment right before Thanksgiving Day.

As we pledge ourselves this weekend to the work ofChrist the King and the parish of San Juan Bautista, we re-dedicate ourselves to preparing the way for the Lord whenhe comes. For the hungry, we offer emergency foodbaskets. For the financially desperate, we assist withmaking ends meet. For the nearly naked, we provideaffordable clothing. For the grieving, we provide a listeningear. For the stranger in this foreign land, we provide ahospitable, spiritual home. For our children, we offer extrahelp through our After-School program and Time-Releasecatechism. For those trapped by not knowing English, weassist with communications.

Who is this “We,” who responds to these needs of theleast among us? The “We” is the people of San JuanBautista, each one of us who, through our generous, weeklygift in the collection and our generous use of time andabilities for others, serve Christ in those in need around us.But we can do so much more. Many parishioners participatein nothing. Won’t you help us reach out more to our fellowparishioners and strangers alike. Only in this way, will SanJuan Bautista be even more effective in responding to theneeds of Christ in the least of these brothers and sisters? Inthe inserts in this bulletin, you will find a multitude ofopportunities in which to offer your particular talents.Come, let us labor in the Lord’s vineyard together.

Hoy con la Fiesta de Cristo Rey, las Escriturasnos recuerdan el tipo de Rey que tenemos y lanecesidad de imitarlo. ¿Quién entrará en el Reino deDios? Como Jesús dijo:

...el rey dirá a los de su derecha: Venid, benditosde mi Padre, tomad posesión del reino preparadopara vosotros desde el principio del mundo.Porque tuve hambre y me disteis de comer …

La entrada al Reino de Dios depende de lamagnitud en que hemos amado y cuidado a losdemás, incluso a nuestros enemigos. Si excluimos aotros de nuestro cuidado y preocupación, así mismoseremos excluidos del cuidado y el Reino de Dios:

Luego dirá a los de la izquierda: Apartaos de mí,malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diabloy sus ángeles. Porque tuve hambre y no me disteis decomer,...

En realidad, la opción es nuestra.

Para proclamar verdaderamente que Cristo es nuestroRey y Señor, significa que lo aceptamos a Él y estamos deacuerdo con sus mandatos. Corresponsabilidad es laespiritualidad que nos ayuda a lograrlo. Consagrando ycomprometiendo el 10% de las bendiciones y regalos que elSeñor nos da, expresamos nuestra gratitud yagradecimiento. ¡Qué apropiado que hagamos estecompromiso de oración justamente antes del Día de Acciónde Gracias.

Al comprometernos este fin de semana a la obra deCristo Rey y la parroquia de San Juan Bautista, nos estamoscomprometiendo nuevamente a preparar el camino para lavenida del Señor. A los necesitados, ofrecemos canastas decompra. A los que necesitan ayuda financiera, le ayudamosen sus necesidades mas inmediatas. A los que están escasosde ropa, les proveemos ropa a bajo costo. A los afligidos,les ofrecemos un oído que escucha. A los emigrantes enesta tierra extranjera, le ofrecemos hospitalidad espiritual. Anuestros niños, les ofrecemos ayuda a través del ProgramaPost-Escolar y del Programa Time-Release. A los que nosaben ingles, les asistimos con la comunicación.

¿Quién es este “Nosotros,” que respondemos a lasnecesidades de los más pobres? “Nosotros” somos la gentede San Juan Bautista, cada uno de nosotros, que a través denuestra generosidad en la colecta semanal y uso generosode nuestro tiempo y talentos ayudamos a los demás,servimos a Cristo en los más necesitados que nos rodean.Pero podemos hacer mucho más. Muchos feligreses noparticipan en nada. Usted podría ayudarnos a llevar laPalabra de Dios a otros feligreses y extranjeros. Solo de estamanera, San Juan Bautista será más eficaz para responder alas necesidades de Cristo en lo más mínimo de estoshermanos y hermanas. The Lancaster Catholic High School Respect Life Clubrecently launched their annual Thanksgiving Food Drivewhich benefits dozens of families in the Lancaster Countycommunity. The students are currently gathering non-perishable Thanksgiving foods, supermarket gift cards,supermarket turkey coupons and monetary donations tocreate food baskets to deliver to local parishes who haveidentified families in need and to replenish the shelves ofparish food banks.
