Abbreviations CC Contrast Colour, MC Main Colour & Dropdown Treble (Ddtr) For this pattern you will need to chain in multiples of 7 plus 8 for turning. I would suggest that you do a sample piece to familiarise yourself before

taking on a bigger blanket. A sample piece would chain 14 plus 8 (22 chains). In making my baby blanket I chained 148 in total.

Starting your blanket Using your main colour (mc), chain148 for your foundation row.

Row 1 : Tr into the 4th chain from hook and into each chain to end.

Row 2 : Change yarn colour using contrast colour (cc) ch 3 (this acts as your first treble) 1 tr into same stitch. This creates a V stitch. Ch2 skip 5 stitches. *2 trs, ch1, 2 trs into same stitch. Chain 2 and skip 6 stitches* Repeat from * to * to last 6 stitches. Ch 2 and 2 trs into the last stitch (creating a V-stitch on your last stitch).

Row 3:

Rejoin MC.

Ch 1, dc into the first stitch. Ch 1 and skip one space. Tr into 3rd tr of row1 over your cc. We will call this the drop down treble (Ddtr). Ddtr in the next stitch. *Ch 2, dc into the next chain space in cc. Chain 2 and skip 2 trs of row 1. Ddtr into the next two trebles*. Repeat from * to * until you reach the last 2 stitches. Ch 1 and dc into the last stitch.

You can see the Dropdown treble stitch in the photo below. This is where we are working through to the line below to insert our hook to make the treble stitch.

Row 4:

Ch 3, tr into the first chain one space. * One tr into each of the next 2 trs then 2 trs into the next chain 2 space. Tr into next dc (the stitch in the centre of your heart), 2 trs into the next ch 2 space*. Repeat * to * until you reach the last 2 stitches (which is your chain one space and then your last stitch). Tr into the last ch1 space and then tr into dc.

Repeat row 2 to 4. End your blanket on row 4 when you have the length required.

Border

1st row doubles. 2nd row half trebles. 3rd row half trebles

Last row Corded Edging. Work a row of double crochet from left to right instead of right to left. The stitches cross on the top to give a beaded finish.
