    Chhattisgarh plains. Under transplanted irrigated situation provided

    transplanting can be done with maximum 30days old seedlings.

    Its grain type is long slender were as existingvarieties Annada and Tulsi are coarse grained.

    Average yield : 3.0-3.5 t/ha. Being an early duration variety, it escapes the

    most of the diseases and pests under fieldconditions.

    It has a good escape as well as tolerance capacityto moisture stress.

    Suitable for ' Poha ' (flaked rice) industry. The variety Mahamaya is resistant to gall midge

    and tolerance to brown spot and sheath rot.Where as the existing variety Kranti susceptible

    Average yield : 4.5-5.5 t/ha Resistant to gall midge and tolerant to WBPH,

    In minikit demonstrations conducted on farmers field(75 trials) Mahamaya variety showed superiority overthe check variety Kranti by 6.18 % higher yield.

    The variety is highly acceptable to farmers becauseof its high yield potential and complete resistance togall-midge (biotype-1) and tolerance to blast, sheathrot, brown spot and bacterial blight.

    The variety Danteshwari recommended all ricegrowing zones of Chhattisgarh and Madhya

    Pradesh Recommended for direct seeded rainfed uplandecosystem of state. Being a early maturityvariety, it escapes most of the pest and diseasesin Kharif season as being early.

    This variety is closely resemble with thePoornima variety which is susceptible to gallmidge, whereas Danteshwari is resistant and alsosuitable for summer cultivation.

    Normally escape water stress being an earlyvariety. Posses good physiological tolerance todrought.

    The variety Danteshwari is acceptable to farmersbecause of its high yield potential, desirable graintype with better head rice recovery, resistance to gallmidge, tolerant to brown spot and specially suitablefor summer cultivation.

    The variety Indira Sugandhit Dhan-1 is resistantto gall midge where as varieties like Madhuri,Pusa Basmati and other scented varieties aresusceptible.

    This variety has better tolerance to drought thanother scented variety of this group.

In All IndiaCoordinated trials R 738-1-64-2-2 showed 12.1%,19.1% and 30.6 % increased in yield over Jayaduring 1995, 1996 and 1997 respectively and 8.815.8 percentage increase in yield over Suraksha in1996 and 1997 and 6.9, 22.5 % increase over localcheck in 1995 and 1997 respectively.

    Recommended for direct seeding in rainfeduplands and in rainfed bunded Matasi soils of Chhattisgarh plains and in transplanted irrigatedsituation provided transplanting with 21 to 25days old seedlings.

    Tolerance to drought. It withstands under waterstress as well as irrigated situation and rainfedsituation. Comparatively less yield reduction dueto water stress as compared to IR-64, Mahamayaand Swarna in both the situations.

    The variety Samleshwari resemble with theAnnada which is susceptible to gall midge. Thusit may prove an alternate to Annada and as wellas Poornima.

    The released variety Samleshwari tested in IVT-Eduring 2001 ranked 2 nd and recorded mean yield of 2736 kg/ha. It exhibited 39.80%, 21.82% and 65.42%yield improvement over national check Annada andregional check (Narendra 97) and local check respectively.

    This variety is highly acceptable to farmers due to itsmedium slender grain, high head rice recovery,resistant to gall midge and moderately resistance toblast and tolerant to Brown spot.
