Challenging Conventions?

• I think my magazine both uses and develops on current media conventions. For instance the layout of my magazine, whilst quite minimalistic it still uses conventions found in most magazines. Such as, on my front cover, the left third, a large lead image and a mast head a the top of the page.

• I believe the way my magazine develops on existing conventions is by the way it is presented, compared with real magazines mine is quite minimalistic in the way it shows the articles and the images of artists are shown.

What representations are conveyed within my magazine?

• The artist featured in my magazine seems to be a rather serious character it could also suggest that we are meant to be fearful of this person. This maybe be suggested due to the lack of emotion in some of the pictures suggesting power and importance.

• Though on reading the interview on the double page spread readers will realise that he is a real person and does have emotions. They also get a little insight into what he is like as a person.

Media Distribution

• If I were to create this as a real magazine I would distribute it through bauer media as this would generate a wider audience.

• This would create notoriety for the magazine and cement it into the market.

• Bauer publish many magazine’s lots of which are well known this would mean they posses the required expertise to help my magazine grow.

The audience

• The intended audience for my magazine are 18-30 year old males interested in electronic music.

• This is more aimed towards the production aspect of electronic music as opposed to the life of the artist or live music and therefore targeting people who work with music or in the music industry.

Technologies

• I have learnt to increase my skills in photoshop using some effects.

• Also I have learnt about photo shoots and taking pictures to use later in photoshop. And a lovely effect called Gaussian blur.

• Also I have used a website called surveymonkey.com to create surveys to learn more about my target audience and what they want from a magazine.

Preliminary Task

• Here is my college magazine. • As you can see it is a lot

more basic and cluttered.• Personally I believe my skills

have progressed considerably.

• I personally feel I made a bad choice in terms of the lead image.
