Please ring the school to discuss orientaon and enrolling your child or children for 2014. If you know anyone with children who are eligible to start Kindergarten in 2014, please let them know we are now accepng enrolments for next year. Elecon Day P & C Stall Thank you to all of those hard workers who manned the stall on Saturday and the wonderful donaons to make the stall a huge success. The P & C raised approximately $670 dollars, a wonderful effort by all. Mayor’s Visit On Tuesday 17 th September the Coffs Harbour City Council Mayor, Denise Knight, will be vising our school. We will be holding a Waterwise Accreditaon Ceremony at 11:00 am under the C.O.L.A. The students will be presenng their findings of water use across the school and in the local area to the Mayor. They will showcase their virtual world builds on the blueberry, dairy and macadamia farms as well. Parents and community members are invited to aend. Following the ceremony there will be a morning tea. All visitors are welcome to stay and it would be appreciated if students could bring a plate of biscuits, slice or cake to share. Orienteering Last Tuesday the children travelled to Upper Orara Public School to compete in an orienteering fun day. They competed with over 90 students from other schools. It was a great day with everyone mixing in groups with the other schools to complete different acvies around orienteering skills. Read the student’s recounts about what they did on the day. Vanessa Cavanagh Principal Olivia - Year 1 I have been to orienteering. I had a good me. I went on a bus. We had Mrs Peart, Rom and Kim get on the bus with us. Then we got off the bus at Upper Orara. We had some food. Then we started our games and then we had recess. Then we played games again and then we had lunch. Then we got on the bus. I was a lile bit nervous and excited! Lachlan - Year 6 On Tuesday the 3rd of September, the kids from Crossmaglen Public School got on a bus and leſt to go to Upper Orara because we were doing orienteering. Once we had arrived there we jumped out of the bus. The teachers that came were Mrs Peart, Rom and Kim, to help us through the day. Aſter we had sat down, we had some recess or fruit. There were four schools there then we got straight into it. The big kids did orienteering first around the school. Vikram and I were the only kids to do the second course. On the first course Vikram and I slid into the barbed wire fence. The next acvity was with Avon. We were in the COLA and we were playing Pacman and I was first in. another game where you had to dodge cow poo, birds and furniture. Also, we did a maze. First we did relays and Crossie kept on winning. I was on another team and my team kept losing. After that we got on to the maze and did it once and then did it backward in order. Finally we got on to the last activity and it was navigating. We did a practice run and then played around by looking at the cards. Once the Crossie kids had finished all their activities we got back on the bus, went back to school and played a bit more. We also got a wrist band and information about orienteering and our own flag. After all it was a great day and a lot of fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------
