THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 28, 2020
Congratulations to the following students who received their First Holy Communion at special Masses that have been held on Sunday afternoons in June. May God continue to bless them and their families: Maya Noelle Schmitz, Cole Michael Fox, Evan Nichole Lyons, Veronica LeeAnn Botts, Ian Daniel Mason, Cecelia (CC) Catherine Zirille, Benjamin James Orsini, Matthew David Giannini, Oisin Michael Pickrell, Samuel Walter Dobosh, Joseph Kenneth Barb, Nash Jacob Anstaett, Brady Douglas Comisford, Shay Do Yoon Hawkins and Ava Noelle Hobson. Brynn Elise Krouse will also be receiving First Holy Communion at a Mass in July.
The Flowers on the Altar this weekend are provided by Regina Pasini.
Many thanks to David Doyle for all his help in putting the Mass online for us for the last several months. He will no longer be posting the Sunday Mass to YouTube for the present time. Uploading to YouTube takes a significant a.m.ount of volunteer time each week and viewership via YouTube has dropped since the building has reopened with appropriate distancing in place. Parishioners will still be able to continue watching the Mass live (or as a recording) via our Church of the Ascension Facebook group if unable to participate in person. We are working on trying to come up with a better solution to make the sound better. Please be patient as we explore different options.

Do you return a portion of your time/skills/possessions to God in a spirit of gratitude?
If you are suffering financial hardship due to the Covid-19 Lockdown and need assistance, financial or otherwise, please reach out to us and let us know your needs. The Diocese has assistance programs available.
Please take note that the Knights of Columbus will be conducting the “Support our Seminarians” collection the weekend of July 4/5. They will be standing at the front doors of the church with their canisters. This collection (Pennies for Heaven Campaign) supports our seminarians and promotes vocations.
We received no response to the request for interest in a Virtual Vacation Bible School, so we will not be pursuing it any further for this summer.
2020 BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
“Living the Joy of the Gospel,” the theme of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, inspires us, as people of faith, to share joyfully the Good News of Christ to those who most need to feel His love. Works of kindness and assistance, sometimes in the smallest way, can bring about a profound change in a person’s life. Through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, we have an opportunity to bring about a positive change in the lives of many of God’s people. Through your generosity, you are supporting the various ministries and programs that are vital in spreading His love. July 11/12 is Commitment Weekend for the Appeal, at which time you can make your gift or pledge. Our parish has been asked to raise $39,884.76. We can accomplish this if, after prayerful consideration, everyone gives what they can. Any a.m.ount raised over our goal will be returned to our parish to be used for our particular needs. You will be receiving a letter from Church of the Ascension along with a 2020 BAA envelope. Please prayerfully consider what you may be able to give this year and return it in the collection boxes on the weekend of July 11/12.
HEARTBEATS BOTTLES FOR LIFE 2020
Each year, we partner with local churches in Licking, Muskingum, and Perry counties to raise funds for the life-saving services provided through Heartbeats to abortion-vulnerable women and families. Many families desperately need the resources and support Heartbeats provides! Because of the ongoing generosity of our communities, Heartbeats has been able to offer services at NO COST for over 50 years!
Participate in our first Heartbeats 2020 Bottles for Life VIRTUAL Campaign in July! While we will not be distributing actual baby bottles this year, you can still support the Bottles for Life Campaign! You can give online at hbfl.us and invite your friends and family to do the same!
Or you can mail donations to: Heartbeats Admin Office: 336 E. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055
Help us to continue to provide all of our services at NO COST by participating in this campaign! You can “fill up” a virtual bottle and help us reach our goal of $70,000.00! The campaign will run through July 31st! Use your social media and invite your friends and family to join you, you can even set your own personal “fundraising goal!” Have a yard sale or a special event to give toward the goal! Hold a special Facebook Live event where you’re the star and people give toward the goal to watch you perform! Have a bake sale and use the proceeds to help reach the goal! Feature an item(s) on social media to sell and invite people to use their bid to help you reach your fundraising goal! Share your story of adoption on social media and ask people to give to help others choose adoption! We know that together we can use our creativity “for such a time as this!” We can’t thank you enough for helping us spread the word (and the link) and for helping us get people excited about offering solutions to abortion through this campaign!
Have you tried listening to Catholic Radio a.m. 820? Listening to a.m. 820 is a good way to deepen your knowledge and love of the Catholic faith!
