2 Overview

When you open a radiographic image for viewing in your CS Imaging Software, a default selection of brightness and contrast filters is made available.

If your acquisition equipment supports the CS Adapt Library filters, you can use the CS Adapt Library software module to manage these filters as follows:

Create custom filters by copying and editing existing factory preset filters.

Use the Favorite function to select which filters available in your CS Imaging Software.

Use the Acquisition Default function to automatically apply the selected filter at acquisition time.

Import or export filter libraries.

When you open the CS Adapt Library from your CS Imaging Software, the modality of the selected image (Cephalometric, Panoramic, Sinus (CS 9600), CR, or RVG) determines which filters are displayed.

The effect of the filters result and their Favorite positions are shown using a set of preview images.

The current status of each filter is displayed in a status bar under the images.

To start using the CS Adapt Library, follow these steps:

1 In your CS Imaging Software, open an image.

2 Open the CS Adapt Library.

To find the CS Adapt Library in your CS Imaging Software, consult the imaging software user

guide.

The CS Adapt Library software is opened in a new window.

3 Using the CS Adapt Library

Creating a FilterTo create a filter, copy an existing filter in the CS Adapt Library and edit the new filter as required.

To create a filter, follow these steps:

1 In the CS Adapt Library, select a filter by moving your mouse pointer over the filter preview image.

When you select a filter in this way, you are selecting both the filter and its Favorite position.

The image preview is displayed in a blue selection frame with links to Modify favorite and Apply at acquisition beneath the frame.

2 In the blue frame, click Modify favorite.

The selected filter image is displayed in the Gallery, and the selected Favorite position is shown

by an enlarged preview image.

3 In the Gallery, move your mouse-pointer over the thumbnail of the filter you want to edit.

An editing pane appears over the thumbnail.

4 In the editing pane, click Create.

Note: If the Gallery is already open, this blue frame is not displayed. Instead, move your mouse over a Gallery thumbnail to display editing options.

Note: Some functions may be grayed out (you cannot use Modify, Delete or Favorite for any of the factory presets).

Page 10: CS Adapt Library - Carestream Dental · 1 In the CS Adapt Library, select a filter by moving your mous e pointer over the filter preview image. When you select a filter in this way,

A window appears that displays filter creation features.

5 You can do the following:

Enter a name for the new filter in the text field (F) directly under the new filter preview (E).

Use the Brightness and Contrast sliders (G) to adjust the new filter preview.

Use the Zoom function (B) to zoom in and check the filter effect on the filtered image.

Editing a FilterTo edit a filter, follow these steps:

1 In the CS Adapt Library, select a filter by moving your mouse pointer over the filter preview image.

When you select a filter in this way, you are selecting both the filter and its Favorite position.

The image preview is displayed in a blue selection frame with links to Modify favorite and Apply at acquisition beneath the frame.

2 In the blue frame, click Modify favorite.

The selected filter image appears in the Gallery, and the selected Favorite position is shown by an

enlarged preview image.

3 In the Gallery, move your mouse-pointer over the thumbnail of the filter you want to edit.

An editing pane appears over the thumbnail.

If the Modify option is grayed out, the selected filter is a factory preset that cannot be edited, so

you need to create a copy of the filter, and then edit the copy.

4 In the editing panel, click Modify.

5 You can do the following:

Modify the Brightness and Contrast slider settings as necessary.

Use the Zoom function to zoom in and check the filter effect on the filtered image. See “Using Zoom” for more information on this function.

Note: You cannot create a filter that has the same brightness and contrast values as an existing filter.

Note: If the Gallery is already open, this blue frame is not displayed. Instead, move your mouse over a Gallery thumbnail to display editing options.

8

If necessary, toggle between the Navigation view and the Histogram function. See “Using the Histogram” for information on this function.

6 Click Save Changes to save your edited filter.

Using FavoritesThe Favorite function allows you to configure the CS Adapt Library filters.

When you open the CS Adapt Library, the modality of the selected image (Cephalometric, Panoramic, Sinus (CS 9600), CR, or RVG) determines which filters are displayed.

The filter results and their Favorite positions are shown as a set of preview images.

The status of a filter is displayed under the image preview:

Favorite positions correspond directly to the CS Adapt Library buttons in your CS Imaging Software. These buttons depend on the modality of the selected image (Cephalometric, Panoramic, Sinus (CS 9600), CR, or RVG).

By tagging a filter as, for example, , the selected filter is linked to button on the relevant CS Imaging Software.

Configuring a Favorite

For example, to link a filter with the button (Favorite), follow these steps:

A Favorite setting

B Filter name

C Acquisition default

Page 13: CS Adapt Library - Carestream Dental · 1 In the CS Adapt Library, select a filter by moving your mous e pointer over the filter preview image. When you select a filter in this way,

1 In the CS Adapt Library, move your mouse pointer over the filter already tagged as .

The filter preview is displayed in a blue selection frame with links to Modify favorite and Apply at acquisition beneath the frame:

2 In the blue frame, click Modify favorite.

The selected filter image is displayed in the Gallery, and the selected Favorite position is shown

by the enlarged preview image.

3 In the Gallery, move your mouse-pointer over the thumbnail of the filter you want to use as Favorite #2.

An editing pane appears.

4 Click Favorite.

If Favorite is grayed out, that filter is already tagged as a Favorite. The selected filter is applied to

the selected Favorite slot.

Assigning Acquisition DefaultsFor any image modality (Cephalometric, Panoramic, Sinus (CS 9600), CR, or RVG), you can select one filter that will be automatically applied each time a new image is acquired.

When you open CS Adapt Library, the modality of the selected image determines which filters are displayed.

The filter results and their Favorite positions are shown as a set of preview images.

Note: If the Gallery is already open, this blue frame is not displayed. Instead, move your mouse over a Gallery thumbnail to display editing options.

Page 14: CS Adapt Library - Carestream Dental · 1 In the CS Adapt Library, select a filter by moving your mous e pointer over the filter preview image. When you select a filter in this way,

10

The status of a filter is displayed under the image preview:

To assign an acquisition default, follow these steps:

1 In your CS Imaging Software, select an image modality by opening an image.

For example, open a cephalometric image if you want to set a cephalometric acquisition default.

2 Open the CS Adapt Library in the manner described in the user guide of the applicable CS Imaging Software.

3 In CS Adapt Library, move your mouse pointer over the filter you want to use.

The filter preview is displayed in a blue selection frame with links to Modify favorite and Apply at acquisition beneath the frame.

4 In the blue frame, click Apply at acquisition.

The selected filter image becomes the acquisition default for the selected modality, and the

acquisition default icon (C above) is displayed in the filter's status bar.

Importing and Exporting LibrariesCS Adapt Library filters can be imported and exported as zip file archives.

To import or export a library of CS Adapt Library filters, follow these steps:

1 In CS Adapt Library, go to System Icons and click .
