Currently,invariousbusinesssectors,itappearsthattheeconomicslowdowncouldpossiblyhaveaneffectonthecontinuedcommitmenttosocialresponsibilityactivities.However,Sahacogen,anditssubsidiaries,havesetuptheirbusinessstructuresassocialbusinessenterprises.Meaning,they have a harmonization between social responsibility,andbusinessoperations.Consequently,allaspectsoftheircorporatesocialresponsibility(CSR)activitiesarestillbeingcarriedout. Highlighting income distribution in relation to em-ployment,aswellaspartnershipwithlocalbusinesses,drivesthesocial,andeconomicsuccessofSahacogen&Affiliates.Moreover, collaboratingwith communities tomonitor andcontroltheimpactontheenvironment,inadditiontoinstillingeco-consciousness,leadstobringingaboutkeyachievementsfrommutually beneficial activities. This ensures that theCompany’sbusinessplanistostrengthenthesustainabilityof corporate social responsibility. Also, it is committed tofosteringthelonglifeofitsbusinessoperations,bybuildingupsocial,andenvironmentalawareness,coupledwithde-veloping effective anti-corruption compliance. As a result,theCompanyhasgainedsignificant recognition, frombothgovernmentagencies,aswellasthepublicsector. In 2015, in order to provide public educationalbenefits, various study groupswere organized to visit thepower plants. “Sahacogen&Affiliates,operatingenergybusinessunderSahaGroup,includesSahacogen(Chonaburi)PublicCompanyLimitedanditssubsidiaries;SahacogenGreenCompanyLimited,SahagreenForestCompanyLimitedandSahagreenEnergyCompanyLimited. Since1999,thefirstcogenerationcombinedcyclepowerplantwasestablishedinSahaGroupIndustrialPark,Sriracha,Chonburiprovince.Theplanthadinstalledcapacityof122Megawattsofelectricityand40tonsofsteamperhour,usingnaturalgasasamainfuel.90MegawattsofelectricityisdistributedtoElectricityGeneratingAuthorityofThailand(EGAT)undertheSmallPowerProducers(SPP)program.ItalsosupplieselectricityandsteamtoSahaPattanaInter-HoldingPublicCompanyLimited.SahacogenregisteredasapubliccompanyonOctober4,2002andexpandedcapacityto174Megawattsofelectricityand81tonsofsteamperhoursince2004. Duetothegrowingdemandforenergyofever-increasingindustriesinSahaGroupIndustrialPark,Sriracha,theCompanydecidedtodevelopthecogenerationcombinedcirclepowerplantexpansionprojectphaseIIIwiththenetcapacityof21MWofelectricityand21tonsofsteamperhour.Theprojectisexpectedtobecompletedandstartedcommercialoperation(COD)inthebeginningofyear2018.Consequently,thetotalcogenerationcapacityoftheCompanywillbe195MWofelectricityand102tonsofsteamperhour. Regardingbusinessexpansion,Sahacogen&Affiliatesfocusonrenewableenergycoupledwithsocialbusinessenterprisedependinguponcommunity,socialandenvironmentalresponsibility. SahacogenGreenCompany Limitedwasestablished todevelop the cogenerationpowerplantwith the installed capacityof9.6Megawattsofelectricityand25tonsofsteamperhourbyutilizingbiomassasthefuel.Theplanthasstartedcommercialoperationsince2011distributingelectricitytotheProvincialElectricityAuthority(PEA)underVerySmallPowerProducers(VSPP)programandsteamtothefactorieswithinSahaGroupIndustrialPark,Lamphun.Moreover,thecompanyhadinitiatedandimplemented7,000Raisofthefast-growingtreesplantationtoestablishsustainablebiomasssourcealongwithextendedemploymentsandearningstocommunities. Thesuccessoftherenewableenergydevelopmentandfast-growingtreeplantationsmotivatedSahacogentodeveloppowerplantprojectusingeucalyptusbarkandbranchesfromthepaperpulpproductionprocessofpaperbusinessofSiamCementGroupandotheragroresidues.SahagreenForestCompanyLimitedwasestablishedfordevelopingpowerplantwithinstalledcapacityof7.5MegawattslocatedinPrankrataidistrict,Kamphaengphetprovince,TheplanthasstartedcommercialoperationsinceDecember2012distributingelectricitytothePEAVSPPprogram.

Sahacogenandaffiliatesorganized this sustainability report to indicate its intention for sustainable businessgrowthincompliancewithsocialresponsibility.ThereportisunderanapproachsuggestedbytheGlobalReportingInitiative(GRI)–G3.1,whilethecorporatesocialresponsibilityperformancewasappliedwiththe10principlesoftheUnitedNationsGlobalCompact(UNGC.)Thisreportillustratescorporateperformanceofthefiscalyear2015fromJanuary1-December31whichcoverseconomic,environmental,andsocialaspectsinconcerningwithallstakeholders.Thiscorporatesocialresponsibilityactivitiesareimplementedinthebusinessprocesses(CSR-in-process),separatingfromthebusinessprocessandnon-profitability(CSR-as-process)andseparatingfromthebusinessprocessandoccurringafterwards(CSR-after-process).

Sahacogen&Affiliateshaveintenttocombatallformsofcorruption.Consequently,theAnti-CorruptionPol-icyhasbeenestablished.Awarenessofthegoodcorporategovernaceprinciplesistobeenhancedamongdirectors,executivesandemployees.Theanti-corruptionpolicyisalsoapartoftheriskmanagementplanforriskassessmentineveryunit.Inthisregards,theinternalauditsactsasanassessor.TheCompanyalsoprovidesittonewemployees,hascommunicationchannelforpublizingthecodeofconductandanti-corruptionpolicy.GuidelinesandpracticesfortheoperationofAnti-Corruptionintheorganizationasbelow; 1.TheBoardofDirectorshasgiventheresolutionfortheCompanytosignadeclarationofintenttojoinThailand’sprivatesectorCoalitionAgainstCorruption(CAC)andestablishtheanti-corruptionpolicyonFebruary18,2015,withtheaimtofostercleanbusinesspratices.Theplanforriskmanagementaboutcorrup-tionissupportedtopreventfraudandcorruptionpracticesintheorganizationandstakeholders. 2.Themanagementandallemployeesaretoraiseawarenessofanti-corruptionpolicybyprovidingsuchinformationviavariouschannelsaswellasorganizingseminarsandworkshopstoemployeesforenhancingandmaintaininganti-corruptionawareness. 3.Themanagementandallemployeesareprohibitedtoacceptgiftsfrombusinesspartnersandtomeettheachievementofworkinafraudulentway. 4.TheCompany’sBusinessEthicsrequireallemployeestohavethedutytointeracthonestly,respon-siblyandwithintegritytowardspublicandthemselves.Theyareprohibitedtousetheirpositionstoobtainbenefitsforthemselvesorotherparties,whichisstatedpubliclyin“CodeofConduct”handbook. 5.TheinternalauditoftheCompanyisrequiredtoassess,analyze,evaluateandkeeptrackoftheriskofcorruptionandinternalcontrolsystem.Ifsuchcorruptionisfound,theinternalauditmustinformdirectlytotheAuditCommittee.Afterthat,theAuditCommitteewillreporttotheBoardofDirectors. 6.Therearechannelsforemployees,relatedpersonsandinformantstoprovidenoticesofcausesforsuspicionwithconfidenceofprotection.

Economic Regardingtothesituationoftheglobalenergymarketsthattheoilpricehasbeenfluctuatedanddecreasedsignificantly.Thisimpactedtothesellingpriceofelectricityandsteam,themainincomeofSahacogenandaffiliatesaccountedfor99%ofthetotalconsolidatedincome,tobereducedsubsequencely.Itisbecausethestructureofelectricityandsteampriceispartialreferencetotheenergymarketprice.However,thecompanywasimplementedtheimprovementoftheproductionefficiencyaswellascontrolledtheproductioncostintensivelyandconsistentlyinordertomitigatetheeffecttotheoperationresultbythisuncontrolledrisk. In2015,therevenuesofthecompanyanditssubsidiariesweretotalingTHB4,081million,presentedadecreasebyTHB633millionor17%comparingtothelastyear,resultingfromthereductionofelectricityandsteampricesasmentionedabove. operatesitpowerplantsincompliancewiththeenvironmentalmeasuresasspecifiedintheEnvironmentalImpactAssessment

(EIA)forthepowerplantofSahacogen(Chonburi)PCLandtheInitialEnvironmentExamination(IEE)forthebiomasspower

plantsofSahacogenGreenandSahagreenForest.Thisrequirestheenvironmentalqualitymeasurementsandreportsinevery

sixmonths.Sahacogenandaffiliateshassetitsbusinessoperationpolicyadheringenvironmental-friendlybusinesspractices

(GreenBusinessPractices),aswellasrelatedlawsandregulations.

Sahacogenplacesthe importanceoftheeffectivewatermanagementthroughoutallproductionprocesses, fromthesourceofwaterforproductioninputuntilthepreservationoftheenvironmentafterproductionprocess.Thecompanythereforestrictlyadherestoregulationsofwatermanagementandconsiderstheimpactsofwaterconsumptiontothenearbycommunities.Ontheotherhand,Sahacogenalsoplanstopreventtheriskofwatershortagewhichmayinterruptthepowerplantoperations.ThewatermanagementpracticesofSahacogenareasfollowings: -ThepowerplantofSahacogen(Chonburi)PCLandthebiomasspowerplantofSahacogenGreenarelocatedinindustrialarea,usingrawwaterfromsourcesdesignatedforindustrialusewithoutaffectingthewatersupplyofthenearbycommunities.Wastewaterfromproductionprocessissenttotheneutralizationbasisforqualityimprovementbeforerecyclingtowaterthegreenareaofpowerplant.WhiletheremainingwaterisdischargedtothewastewatertreatmentfacilitiesofSahaGroupIndustrialParkunderthecontrolledqualitywhichthedischargedtemperatureisnotgreaterthan40DegreeCelsiusaccordingtotheregulations. Moreover,SahacogenalsoimplementedtheRORejectedWaterRecycleProjecttorecycletherejectedwaterforreusinginproductionprocess.Thishelptosavewatersupplyandreducethewastewater’sexpenses.TheROWaterRecycletechnologyhasbeenoperatedsinceSeptember2014whichhelpstoreducetheamountofwaterforproductionprocessandwastewater159,374cubicmeters,incalculationof3,028,091Bahtsavedfromtheinvestmentof6,624,847Baht.

consistsofanincomingpondforsedimentandamainpondforuse.Thisensuresthatthewaterhaslowlevelsofsuspension

andastablequality,reducingthechemicalsusageandthevolumeofwastewaterfromtheproductionprocess.Sahagreen

Forestalsoplantedtreesaroundthereservoirasagreenbeltforprotectingthewind,loweringtheamountofwaterlossand

supportingtheuseofwastewaterwithoutaffectingthewaterusedforagriculturalandconsumptionpurposesofthesurround-

ingcommunities.Wastewaterfromproductionisreleasedintothesewagewaterholdingpondforkeepingtemperatureand

qualityaccordingtotheregulationsbeforerecyclingtowaterthegreenareaofpowerplantwithoutdischargingtoexternal

Sahacogenisdedicatedtomanagewastesaccordingtothelegalstandardsandthepoliciesofeachpowerplant.Wastes aredivided into two categories: hazardouswaste andnon-hazardouswaste. The company’swastemanagement practicesareasfollowings: 1.Hazardouswastesarethosethatcanbeharmfultoanenvironment,suchastransformeroil,lubricantsandchemicalcontainers.ThesewastesaredisposedaccordingtotheapprovedprocedurestotheagenciesauthorizedbytheDepartmentofIndustrialWorks. 2.Non-hazardouswastesaregeneralwastessuchasleftovers,wood,paper,wires,plasticbags,andconstructionmaterials.Thesewastesareclassifiedbeforedisposingtoburyaccordingtothestandardsandregulationsorappropriatelyrecycling.Thewastebankprojectwasestablishedtopurchaserecyclablewastesfromemployeesinordertofosteremployeestoutilizeresourceseffectively. Througout the year 2015, Sahacogen & Affiliates places value on fair treatment of stakeholders to step forward for

Sahacogen Scholarships

Educationisthekeyfundamentalfordevelopmentofqualityoflife,communitiesandnation.Sahacogenallocates

ourbudgetsforsponsorshiptoschoolsinkindofbooks,educationalitems,sportequipmentsandcomputers.Ithasbeen8

yearssinceourfirststartin2008.In2015,Sahacogendonatedbooksandteachingmaterialsto18schools.Thetotalbudget

forsuchdonationwas38,000Baht.

Sohacogen has been provided scholarship to the under privileged Thai youths who screened and selected by

community’s education committees for 9 consecutive years. Moreover, we also support through other activities such

as painting competition, art from biomass, lunch sponsorship and Thai Children Day.

In 2015, Sahacogen & Affiliates supported scholarships for schools nearby the power plants and its business’

areas. There were 37 schools obtaining scholarships in totaling amount of 80,000 Baht.

Clean Canal and Environment Care Project

Thisprojecthasbeenheldwiththecollaborationfromthelocaladministrativeofficesandthelocalcommunities.We

supportthegovernmentproject,“Forestationof800millionseedlingstocelebratethe80thanniversaryofHerMajestythe

Queen’sBirthday”.Thisprojectaimstocreateandpreservetheforestareaaccordingtotheroyalideas.Wehaveconducted

theprojectsbothinthewoodsandmangroveforests.Wehavebeencontinuingthisprojectfor4years,over35,000seedlings

havebeendistributedaccordingtotheproject.

SahacogenandAffiliatesincollaborativeactionwiththelocaladministrativeofficesi.e.TheFisheriesStation,theroyal

irrigationinKamphaengphetprovince,andlocalfarmershavehelpedtocleanWangChaocanalinWangTabaksubdistrictand

KhuiBanOngsubdistrict,Phrankrataidistrict,Kamphaengphetprovince.Thiscanalisservingasthemainresourceforagricul-

Waste Bank for Environment Project

WasteBankforEnvironmentProjecthasbeensetuptomotivateandenhancetheeco-conciousawarenessamongemployees.Wastemustbecategorizedbothinofficeandplant,aswellastheemployeescanbringtheirwastefromhomefordonationorexchangebeforethecompanysellsthosewastetopurchaserforrecycling.Thisisanotherwaytosavetheworldwhichrevenuefromsellingwastewillbeusedfororganizationalactivitiesanddonation.In2015,therewere11,086kilogramsofwasteinthebank,totaling71,268Bahtasdescribedinthetable.

Sahacogen&Affiliateshave intent todevelop integratedalternativeenergybusinessusingbiomass forpowergeneration.Thisfosterstheparticipationandbenefitstosocietywithincomedistributiontowardscommunitiesbypurchasingagroresiduesfromthem.Withtheawarenessofsocialresponsibilityandsustainability,thisalsohelpstoreduceairpollutionproblemoccuringfromcropresidueburningwithoutcontrolandgreenhousegasemissions.
