    Purpose of this document

    This supplementary report to the CEP buyers’ guide to multislice CT scanners [1] provides comparative specifications of CT scanners that are capable of acquiringmore than 64 slices. In this category the number of slices is generally considered inconjunction with the length of coverage. These are specialist scanners primarilyaimed at cardiac or perfusion imaging, and length of coverage along the z-axis is ofparticular importance for these studies. A greater number of slices may mean longercoverage, or may be as a result of a higher slice acquisition density due to thedynamic focal spot.

    Comparative specifications are also available for other categories of scanner, asshown below.
