Where the Museum Has Come: From
1979-82 3 years of vigorous collecting. A lot of unique items saved.
Collecting remains an important national role for eM. Example: the JOHNIAC from Rand was recently acquired after rotting outside in LA for years.
1982-87 5 years of building exhibits that reach to ever wider audiences; wider in educational level. and wider in terms of origin. Over half our visitors in the summer months come from outside New England, with 20% from abroad.
Where the Museum is Now
Show video of Museum today (3 collated excerpts taken from television reports).
The Computer Museum has established the world's greatest set of educational exbibits about computers.
It. is now sharing these across the country through travelling exhibits and "Exhibit Kits." eM's Exhibit Kits are direct1y inspired by the Exploratorium which has had a maj()r worldwide impact on Science Cent.ers through its series of exhibit "Cookbooks."
A Computer Museum Exhibit Kit is a package that includes software, custom hardware, documentation, background information and a bibliography that enables any institution to replicate the finest of the Computer Muse.um's exhibits. (eg. Technology Center of Silicon Valley is getting "Color the States," an exhibit demonstnlting speech recognition). New exhibits planned (tllat Oliver will talk about) will also generate many new "Exhibit Kits."
The Computer Bowl - a national event, screened nationally on PBS.

New Exhibit Kits, traveling exhibits, publications, educational presentations (Adeline to specify what is explortable) for science museums and technology centers that will help educate and inspire people around the country on the evolution, technology and impact of computing.
Tell us how the Museum can serve you, and become a part of it!
