Cory shared the activities the students participate in which include: a mock academy, trip to the prison, paint ball at Camp Pendleton, the ropes team building course, bumper cars and the Border Patrol. Agencies such as the ICSO, ECPD and California High- way patrol all help with certain class activities. The LS/LE Academy is a Partner Ship matching grant which funds classroom activities, but does not fund things such as T shirts or uniforms. Next year the class enrollment will be around 200, the students must maintain a 2.2 GPA, and most of the students are at risk students. The students attend their academic classes of English, Math, Science and Social Studies and then take the Academy Technical class. The students have asked Mr. Vandressche if they could get uniforms, but this cannot be funded with Academy or School funding, so he is hopeful of raising money from other sources. ANNOUNCEMENTS Don Thomp-son reminded club members that the annu-al Rotary BBQ would be held next Thursday and that last year we served over 1400 meals. President Frank encour-aged us to sell our tickets and turn in

our money. Edgard Garcia invited us to attend a fund raising event sponsored by the Imperial County Bar Association to be held on March 28, 2015 at the Courtroom. The cost per person is $25 and the proceeds will go to provide a scholarship from the Bar Association. This is a wine and beer tasting event. Congratulations to Analise Irigoyen our club 4-Way speech contest winner who competed at the regionals yesterday in San Diego and won first place. She now moves on to the District Finals on April 28th, 5:30 pm at the Escondido Center for The Performing Arts.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests of Rotarians

Our lone visiting Ro-tarian was also our permanent visiting Ro-tarian, Richard Acosta. Don Glud a visiting Rotarian from his home club to his home club. Hud Mitchell intro-duced his wife Marga-ret, Edgard Garcia introduced his wife Ari and we finally met 11 week old Declan, the son of Stacy Todd and nephew of Bill and

Chris. Plourd. We collected $85 dollars for baby Todd, which uncle Chris said he would match.

Phil Heald explained the recent IID grant that Imperial Stores received and was dinged $100, which someone shouted was the amount of the grant, thank heaven they were just kidding. Don Glud was welcomed and then immedi-ately fined $100 for a baseball found during the last Hwy. cleanup. Gabe Contre-ras was fined $50 for his sponsoring of a new mem-ber, huh? Gabe claimed that he had paid for ten meals and should not be fined.

Gerard Delany paid $100 for the change of hands at the IV Press, which was recently bought by a new compa-ny. He said there would not be any noticeable change in the Press. Lanny Foote was fined $100 for ad-vertisement of his company

logo which will appear at the golf tourna-ment for which his company is sponsoring our team. Thank you Lanny, you pay to sponsor the team and then have to pay a Rotary fine for your advertisement, Horton, Knox, Carter & Foote

LLP. Isn’t that double jeopardy. Bill Thomas was fined for some memorabilia found during the Hwy. clean up. I believe it was an info tag from Direct Au-to. He paid $50. President Frank was on a roll with his Hwy cleanup finds and gave Edgard Garci a bag of golf balls which Edgard paid $50 for. Edgard, you can go to the driving range and buy a bucket for less.
