Health Fair sponsored by Association House of Chicago. The health fair will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1116 N. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60651. Through provided health screenings, education and fitness classes, the purpose of the health fair is to increase the Humboldt Park community’s awareness of various health issues and encourage individuals to take action through the utilization of preventative screenings for health and wellness. The event will include health screenings, including free blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol screenings and informational tables. A free aerobic class will also be offered. Association House offers residential and day programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. In a compassionate environment, participants learn key life skills and receive psycho-social rehabilitation. They are also supported by extensive case management and counseling services. ASSOCIATION HOUSEThis year Association House, 1116 N. Kedzie Ave., will celebrate 110 years of continuous service. What began as a settlement house started by Ellen Holt and social reformer Jane Addams in 1899, has gown into a community resource that provides a state-of-the-art technology center, job placement programs, a safe haven for children and teens from one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, and a food pantry.
