 Priority in our Economic Development Action Plans

Enhancing our “Place” draws in more Lone Eagles & Creative Entrepreneurs who like culturally rich and interesting “places”

Creative Economy set to grow by 40% over next decade

Creative Workers earn $20,000 more on average and contribute 70% of spending in a community

Stats Canada indicates 360,000 manufacturing jobs were lost between 2006 & 2010. But we gained 200,000 Creative jobs

Cultural tourists also stay longer

Goals 1 & 4 – Stronger Collaboration• Implemented a Communications Strategy to Promote the

Plan;• Convened a Cultural Summit;• Sustained and Expanded Cultural Mapping;• April, 2014 Quinte Arts Council brought Arts Councils

together for networking & collaboration;• Region-wide calendar of programs and events.*Areas where you can help:• Integrate culture more into municipal planning & decision-

making;• How can we adapt more existing spaces or create new

multi-purpose facilities?

Goal 2: Grow Culture Driven Economic Development

• Spaces for artists and creative enterprises have been supported (i.e. Place for the Arts in Bancroft);

• Have leveraged waterways and waterfront development (i.e. new Marina)
