Reading- Your child will have reading once a week. This will generally be on the same day each week. We have literature circles so your child will be expected to prepare a task to present to their group. There are also separate reading skills lessons each week. This term we are looking at non fiction books.

Literacy

Writing – An extended piece of writing will be done most weeks. It tends to be linked to their topic. To assess their writing the children have a 3 week rotation of self assessment, peer assessment and teacher assessment.

Spelling is taught twice a week with reinforcement activities being done daily. A weekly test is given.

Handwriting- It is our expectation that all children use Berol Cursive Script.
