ABSTRACT OF RESEARCH WORK:

In modern age, agriculture commodity has attained industrial importance and seed which is the origin of the agriculture can not be neglected. A variety of micro-organisms tend to invade seeds and rendered them diseased by reducing the quantity and quality of the seeds, their products and crops raised from such seeds. Therefore Seed health testing is the primary need to avoid crop failure because the seeds are regarded as a highly effective means for the transfer of pathogens over the years.

ISTA rules were followed throughout the studies and seed mycoflora of some important

crops was isolated by the methods of dry inspection of seeds, after soaking the seeds, by using different methods of incubations. Prominent flora was tested for their pathogenic

behaviour. Disease management strategies is the important aspect of the work. Efficacy of different fungicides botanicals and bio control agents was evaluated and much

attention was given to non chemical substances for seed treatment to protect them against the pathogen. Control measures should be cheap i.e. within the reach of poor farmer,

ecologically sound and environmentally safe. Main aim of the work is to protect our crops and their post-harvest products through seed health testing programme.
