This is acollaborative project with Prof. Bruce Law and Bret Flanders (PI and co-pI) from KansasState University where they will be carrying out experiments on colloidal particles of varioussizes. My role as a PI from UCF is to gain fundamental understanding by carrying out largescale simulation studies augmented by theory and guided by the experiments. The proposalwill be submitted for the 3rd time. At this point we think we left no room for further cri-tique. The previous reviews were mostly positive but wanted us to address a couple of issues.Therefore, we are very hopeful that the proposal will be funded this time.

Professional highlights & synergistic activities:

• 1.854 million dollar of NSF funding at UCF.• ∼ 1061 citations of research papers according to Google Scholar with H index 21• Graduate Coordinator (Graduate program director) for the physics department duringFall 2006 - Fall 2009; the program underwent substantial growth.

TEACHINGAt UCF I have been involved in teaching at all levels from 1000 level GEP courses to most ofthe graduate core courses. I have introduced two special topics courses and plan to introduce twoothers. More recently I taught (Fall 2012, Fall 2013) “SCALE-UP” versions of algebra and calculusbased introductory physics courses (PHY-2053). I am also involved with the ongoing discussionsabout improving the usefulness of undergraduate recitations and laboratory sections. I have plansto take initiatives for a “bio and soft matter track” in both the graduate and undergraduate programand take additional teaching load on special topics courses, if necessary. I have written an R15proposal to the NIH. If funded, I will introduce another inter-disciplinary course “Introduction toDNA: science & technology of this amazing biopolymer”.
