ABET ASSESSMENT:
Two of my courses (Machine Design and Manufacturing Processes) have been majorly represented in the
ABET Assessments of the program of Mechanical Engineering at SQU. Students Outcomes [a, c, e & j)
and relevant Performance Indicators have been all implemented in different assessment components of
these courses.
5/12
In all of these course, some of the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of Mechanical Engineering
Program are mapped against Learning Outcomes (LOs) using measurable statement of Performance
Indicators (PIs) required to meet the outcomes and confirmable through evidence.
CURRICULA DEVELOPMENT @ SULTAN QABOOS UNIVERSITY, OMAN:
MEIE5264: CAD/CAM
This course was designed and created from scratch. It has been taught to Senior Mechanical Engineering
Students for the first time in SQU. Two powerful {CAD/CAM} Packages have been adopted: 3D CAD
SolidWorks Premium and Simulation Premium and Mastercam have used to enhanced students’
engagement and accelerated their learning.
Course contents are all industry applicable where semi-automation and automation have been recently
adopted in number of companies in Rusayl Industrial Estate using CNC Centers in Turn/Mill and CNC
Welding. The course projects are tuned to allow students to transfer innovative idea into tangible
prototype (3D Print).
MEIE4102: Machine Design
Design Project Component has been introduced for the first time in this course. It given students
experience in reverse engineering with focus on the design process to support and enhance the application
of the course contents.
MEIE5176: Mechanics of Composite Materials
This course is being newly designed and developed. Computational approach (Matlab & FEM-based) is
considered. This course will be taught to Senior Mechanical and Civil Engineering students for the first
time in SQU. Such a course will be useful not only for the education of senior students and new engineers,
but also for the continuing education of practicing engineers and for reference.
STUDENTS ADVISING @ SULTAN QABOOS UNIVERSITY, OMAN:
I have been the academic advisor for (160) pre-specialization students since Sept. 2017. Specific
attentions have been given to students on academic probations. With my advisees, we set up plans and
goals. Plans were executed and students met all academic challenges and overcame probations.
To gain insight on the reasons that have led the pre-specialization students to fall into academic probation,
I have met with around 40 (on-proportion students) and discussed reasons behind falling into probation.
Factors that contributed to academic probation were determined as results of these meetings. A final report
with valuable recommendations was completed submitted to the ADUS. This is an exceptional initiative
that has never been exercised in SQU.
Plaque and Certificate of Appreciations were received from The Dean of the College of Engineering
for the outstanding efforts on Pre-Specializing Academic Advising.

CURRICULA DEVELOPMENT @ DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY, CANADA:
ENGI-1202: Mechanics of Materials
I re-developed Mechanics of Materials course at Dalhousie University. The original motivation for this
effort came from the re-development of the curriculum at seven (associated) Universities in Atlantic
Canada that share a common two-year core engineering program which leads to completion of two more
years at the mother institute (Dalhousie University).
Re-development was planned and executed as a result of new engineering accreditation guidelines
published by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) issued in 2010.

ATTENDANCE OF HIGH-LEVEL MEETINGS:
High level meeting with H.E. Dr. Hamed Al-Oufi, Undersecretary for the Fisheries in the Ministry
of Agriculture and Fisheries. The agenda was:
o Develop implementation plan of action including business plan to ensure appropriate application
of the device to minimize and eventually eliminate ghost fishing in Oman.
o Semi-automate the fabrication of fishing cages (locally known as Al-Dawabi) to increase
production rates and expand market shares.
Attended a high level meeting chaired by H.E. Dr. Hilal Al Hinai, The Secretary General of The
Research Council (TRC). The meeting was to brainstorm a new initiative of using 3D printing to
construct real on-site buildings. The initiative is proposed to be implemented in a form of a nation-wide
competition (April 2018).
Presented SQU experience in 3D printing during the aforementioned high level meeting (April 2018).
